1 Veteran Foundation 1 Veteran Foundation is a non-profit organization who helps Veterans in need to attain a PTSD service dogs in Southern Arizona.

The 1 Veteran Foundation was started with an idea. In November of 2015 when we applied for our 501c3 with the IRS. Our mission is to help American Veteran who are dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), by providing a service dogs at little to no cost to the veteran. In our 1st year since we have opened, our goal was to train five service dogs to help our veterans. We ended the year wi

💚 June is PTSD Awareness Month 💚

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects millions of people worldwide, including survivors of abuse, violence, accidents, disasters, military service, and other traumatic experiences.

PTSD is not a sign of weakness.
It is a response to trauma.

Many people living with PTSD fight battles that cannot be seen. They may appear okay on the outside while struggling with anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, or emotional distress.

This month, let's choose compassion over judgment.
Let's listen without assumptions.
Let's support those who are healing.
And let's remind survivors that they are not alone.

💚 Healing is possible.
💚 Recovery takes time.
💚 Every story matters.

Sometimes the healthiest choice isn’t fixing every relationship, it’s creating distance from the ones that continually harm your peace.

Not all family relationships are nurturing. Some come with constant criticism, boundary violations, comparisons, guilt trips, or emotional exhaustion.

Choosing to step back doesn’t mean you hate your relatives.
It doesn’t mean you’re ungrateful.
And it doesn’t make you a bad person.

Sometimes, protecting your mental health means limiting access to people who consistently drain it.

Setting boundaries is self-respect.
Choosing peace is self-care.
Prioritizing your well-being is not selfish.

You are allowed to protect your peace, even when others don’t understand. 💚

Trauma isn’t always a single, visible moment, it leaves an imprint on how a person navigates the world every single day. 🧠

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) can look very different from person to person. While pop culture often focuses on flashbacks, the daily reality often involves quiet battles like:

Avoiding people or places that trigger painful memories.
Feeling emotionally flooded by intense thoughts or anxiety.
Avoiding talking about the event to keep the pain at bay.
Always feeling on edge (hypervigilance) as if danger is constantly near.
Struggling to trust anyone, making relationships feel unsafe.
Avoiding joy because feeling happy can suddenly feel “wrong” or unsafe.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or a holiday. It is a time to reflect on sacrifice, courage, and the lives that were forever changed because of service.

We also hold space for the families, friends, and fellow service members who carry the weight of that loss every day.

May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and may we continue to honor them not only with remembrance, but with compassion, support, and gratitude. 🇺🇸🤍

PTSD is often misunderstood by people who have never experienced what survival mode feels like.

What may look like overreacting, shutting down, avoidance, irritability, or emotional distance is often the nervous system responding to trauma that the brain has not fully processed yet.

PTSD is not about seeking attention. It is a real mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing danger, fear, loss, or overwhelming events.

Living in a constant state of alertness can affect sleep, relationships, emotions, concentration, and everyday life in ways others may never see.

This is why mental health awareness and trauma education matter. Understanding creates compassion, and compassion can help people feel less alone in what they are carrying. 🤍

PTSD is more common, and more misunderstood, than many people realize.

Behind the statistics are real people navigating flashbacks, hypervigilance, emotional numbness, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and the lasting effects of trauma every day.

Raising awareness starts with understanding that PTSD is not a sign of weakness, and it is not limited to one type of person or experience. Trauma can affect anyone.

The more we educate ourselves about mental health and trauma, the more compassion we create for those silently struggling around us. 🤍

Healing is possible, support matters, and no one should have to go through it alone.

Sometimes the signs that we need a break do not show up loudly.

They can look like constant exhaustion, emotional numbness, irritability, trouble sleeping, or feeling mentally overwhelmed by things that once felt manageable.

When stress, trauma, anxiety, or burnout build up for too long, the mind and body eventually ask us to slow down. Ignoring those signs does not make them disappear, it only makes healing harder.

Protecting your mental health is not selfish, lazy, or weak. Rest is an important part of emotional well-being, trauma recovery, and nervous system regulation.

If you have been feeling overwhelmed lately, this may be your reminder to pause, breathe, and check in with yourself a little more gently. 🤍

Mental health doesn’t look the same for everyone.

For some, it’s anxiety that won’t quiet down. For others, it’s the weight of depression, the impact of PTSD, or emotions that feel hard to explain. Each experience is different, and each one is valid.

Raising mental health awareness means understanding that there’s no single way to struggle, and no single way to heal. What someone carries internally may not always be visible, but that doesn’t make it any less real.

When we lead with empathy instead of assumptions, we create space for emotional well-being, honest conversations, and meaningful mental health support.

Everyone’s journey is different, and everyone deserves to be met with compassion. 🤍
