WELLNESS WEDNESDAY

One simple way to support a child’s emotional wellness is to help them build a vocabulary for their feelings.

Instead of asking only, “Are you okay?” try questions like:
💛 “What feeling are you having right now?”
💛 “Where do you feel that emotion in your body?”
💛 “Would you like to talk about it or have some quiet time?”

Children don’t always have the words to explain what they’re experiencing. Giving them time, patience, and permission to express emotions can help them feel heard and supported.

There’s no perfect conversation. What matters is creating space to listen.

DID YOU KNOW? 💡 Your Arizona state taxes can help support children in your own community.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southern Arizona is a Qualifying Charitable Organization, which means eligible Arizona taxpayers may be able to claim a credit for donations to our organization.

The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit allows eligible taxpayers to make a qualifying donation and claim it as a dollar-for-dollar credit against their Arizona state income tax liability, up to the applicable annual limit.

That means your generosity can help provide critical services for children while potentially reducing the amount of Arizona state income tax you owe.

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Southern Arizona exists to provide a safe, compassionate, healing environment for children who have been victims or witnesses to a crime.

Our trauma-informed, child-focused approach helps bring together the people and services a child may need after a report of abuse or other crime. Most importantly, children are given a safe place to tell their story and begin the path toward healing.

What does creating a safe community for children mean to you? 💜

It can mean listening when a child speaks. It can mean knowing the signs of abuse. It can mean reporting concerns. It can mean supporting organizations that help children heal. And it can mean simply being the safe, caring adult a child can count on.

Creating safer communities is something we all have a role in. Together, we can help children know they are seen, heard, believed, and supported.
