Congratulations to Jeremeiah Whiteside, the winner of our phirst annual Regina Ponder Scholarship Essay Competition! Jeremeiah is a rising junior majoring in finance and minoring in Africana studies. She serves all mankind by acting as the philanthropy chair in the Eller African American Honorary , volunteering at the local food bank, and serving as the vice president of the club Students Consulting for Non-profit Organization. She will be receiving a tuition assistance scholarship from the Illustrious Iota Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated when school resumes. Congratulations, Jeremeiah!

Are you heavily involved on campus or in the Tucson community? Do you have a love for service? You may be a perfect candidate for our first annual Mr. Iota Tau Scholarship Pageant. Join the illustrious ladies of the Iota Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated on Tuesday, April 11th, 2017 at 8 PM to learn more about how you can compete to win a scholarship and the esteemed title of Mr. Iota Tau. Potential contestants must be male, must attend the University of Arizona, must have a minimum of a 2.75 GPA ,and must have demonstrated involvement in the community. Today, on the 130th anniversary of her birth, we celebrate our founder and guiding light, Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. Not only was she responsible for the creation of the world's PHIRST historically African-American sorority, but she also was a civil rights activist and educator, served as the organization's national treasurer for over twenty years, and founded a chapter of the League of Women Voters in Philadelphia. We thank her for her ingenuity, innovation, and of course, her desire to create an organization to uplift women and allow them to be of service to ALL mankind! 💗💚
