Cars for Cancer, founded by Ashley Brewington in honor of her late father, began to help with his medical bills.

Now, it continues each year in Tryon, NC, raising funds for local families fighting cancer.

We are honored to introduce Crystal Ponder, the beneficiary of this year’s 4th Annual Cars for Cancer.

We wanted Crystal to have the opportunity to share a little about herself and her journey in her own words:

“My name is Crystal Ponder, and I am a Polk County native, and I work at Polk Vocational Services. I am a proud Mom of 3 and Mimi of 9. In late November of last year, during my yearly mammogram, I was diagnosed with Stage 1A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (ER+/HER2+). I am incredibly thankful it was caught early.

In February, I had surgery, followed by chemotherapy, radiation, and targeted therapy. I have been blessed with an amazing medical team at Gibbs Cancer Center who have cared for me every step of the way. I am also deeply thankful to my family and friends for the encouragement and support they have shown me throughout this long and tough journey. I am truly grateful to be surrounded by so much kindness and love.”

We are proud to stand behind Crystal and her family this year, and we hope our community will come together to show them just how much support surrounds them. ❤️
