We're a philanthropic and educational organization for the encouragement and development of gardening, conservation, and beautification for the community and the individual. Active membership involves making a personal commitment to support the club through participation in club projects and monthly meetings. Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from September through May. Our
meeting speakers range from gardening, conservation, birds and so many more interesting areas. Green Blades supports many projects including the maintenance and continued development of "Park on Trade" in Tryon. This beautiful pocket park as you enter Tryon was created by club members for the community to enjoy. We share our talents with the community as we decorate the Hospice House in Landrum at Christmas along with Tryon Fine Arts Center. We join others in other projects including the Polk County Foster Children's Christmas and Tryon's Halloween stroll with beautiful "witches" in our "Park on Trade" handing out candy. In 2022, the club gave 2 scholarships, one to a Polk County High School senior and one to a Landrum High School senior who will be pursing either agricultural or environmental studies. Current membership includes 23 Active Members, 3 Associate Members, and 5 Sustaining Members. Our club flower is the Iris, and our club colors are yellow and purple.
