Founded in 1984, the Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers is a club for all anglers who care about the places they fish and want to learn more about the art of fly fishing to improve their skills and

techniques. From guided fishing events, summer BBQ’s, youth programs, and recommendations for fly fishing equipment to, a line-up of fabulous guest speakers at each of our monthly meetings, the club has a lot to offer for such a small donation. The TTFF General Meeting is Thursday 10/16/2025 5pm at the Truckee Recreation Center with Matt Heron
We are super happy to have Twenty year, veteran Truckee guide, Matt Heron at this month's TTFF General Meeting. Matt will be talking about fall and winter fly fishing strategies on the Truckee River.

This is a great opportunity to meet and greet others in the Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers, share interests, line up a fishing outing, have some pizza (bring your own beverage), and then enjoy a talk by Matt. We would love to see you there as this is our last in person live general meeting in 2025.

Matt Heron - Guest Speaker
Matt is an east coast native, who started fly fishing in the Adirondacks and great lakes in 1991.

Today Matt runs his fly fishing school and outfitter, Matt Heron Fly Fishing in Truckee, CA near Lake Tahoe. His school at Everline Resort is widely recognized as one of the premier fly fishing education programs in the country. His team of guides focuses primarily on daily classes in the summer and the year-round guiding on the Truckee and Little Truckee Rivers, and surrounding fisheries.

Matt is a Fly Fishers International, and Far Bank, Certified Casting Instructor. Matt also serves as the Regional Director for the Reno/Tahoe chapter of Cast Hope and is on the editorial committee for Calidornia Fly Fisher magazine.

In his “free” time, Matt is lucky enough to host his guests to some of the world’s finest fly fishing destinations and lodges around the world.

Twenty year, veteran Truckee guide, Matt Heron will be talking about fall and winter fly fishing strategies on the Truckee River—what makes it unique, how trout behave as the water gets colder, and the techniques that help you find success when conditions are tough.

He'll cover reading the water during the colder months, share his go-to flies and strategies for fall and winter. By the end, you’ll have the tools to extend your season and catch more trout in cold water.”

30th Truckee River Day Registration is now Open!

A full day of events start on October 19th. Restoration projects begin at 9am and 11am and are open for all ages and abilities. After a day of working to restore our watershed, you are invited to join us for the Truckee River Day Fair at Granite Flat Campground from 1pm to 4pm to celebrate the Truckee River! All are welcome – restoration volunteers and others. Come ready to have some fun – live entertainment, environmental education activities, art projects and more! Granite Flat is located 1 mile south of Truckee on Highway 89. Presented in partnership with Sierra Watershed Education Partnerships.

Founded in 1984, the Tahoe Truckee Fly Fishers is a club for fly fishing anglers who care about the places they fish and, want to learn and share about the art of fly fishing. The Club provides; Monthly Meetings with outstanding guest speakers, Guided Fishing Clinics and “Fishout” Events, Annual Summer BBQ, and a Youth Fly Fishing Camp.
