Today’s Beloved Community Highlight honors Romare Bearden — a visionary artist who used color, texture, and storytelling to capture the beauty, resilience, and complexity of Black life.

Through his groundbreaking collage work, Bearden reminded us that art can preserve history, strengthen identity, and build connection across communities. His work reflected everyday moments with extraordinary depth, showing that every story matters and every person belongs.

Alright, Ripple Makers - Richard's Chapel needs our help.

As many of you know, Richard’s Chapel serves a free hot lunch every Monday–Thursday from 12–1, and it happens because of two incredibly dedicated volunteers: Ron and Dot.

Ron plans the meals, shops for the meals, and cooks the meals, while Dot is his trusty sous chef beside him every step of the way.

Ron is having knee replacement surgery and will be out recovering for at least two weeks. I agreed to step in and help coordinate meals while he heals — and now I’m asking this amazing community to show up the way you always do.

Each day, Richard’s Chapel serves lunch to around 25–50 people. Would you be willing to prepare a meal for that many people and either:
• drop it off at the church (831 McKaig Ave) at 11:00 AM
OR
• arrange for someone to pick it up?

Meals can be:
🍲 Ready to pop in the oven
🥘 Fully cooked and ready to heat up
🍝 Simple comfort meals that feed a crowd

We only need to fill SIX DAYS to help make sure our community continues to be fed while Ron recovers.

We love being a part of Rock the Block. Thanks for having us Habitat for Humanity of Miami & Shelby Counties, OH!

Thank you again to the Troy Ohio Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring lunches for Rock the Block! Today we were treated to boxed lunch from The Honey Baked Ham company and delivered by Sharrie Brown! Our volunteers were happy and the cookies were the perfect dessert.
