Our tiniest member of the LFA IL family officially has a name!

After the players submitted their ideas, Louis was the winner—and we have a feeling Louie/Lou is going to fit right in around here. 😂⚽

He may be completely knocked out in this photo… but don’t let that fool you.

Louie may be sleeping, but our players definitely aren’t sleeping on the field. 🔥

They’re working.
They’re competing.
They’re learning.
They’re growing.

And now we get to watch Lou grow right alongside them throughout the season. ❤️💙🐿️

🐿️⚽ SO… WHY IS THERE A BABY SQUIRREL ON OUR LFA IL PAGE?

Fair question. 😂

This tiny guy has unexpectedly become part of our LFA IL family — and there's a pretty special story behind him.

After a tree fell at Coach Jason's house, two baby squirrels were found after being separated from their nest. Their mom returned and was able to rescue one of the babies, but she never came back for this little guy.

So Coach Jason stepped in. ❤️

He's been feeding him, caring for him and helping him grow — which means our players have gained a very tiny new teammate for the season. 🐿️⚽

And we've decided we're going to let our teams be part of his story.

This week, our players were given two soccer challenges to work on at home:

⚽ Juggle the ball at least 5 times
🔥 Learn and demonstrate 2 different 1v1 moves

At training Tuesday and Wednesday, any player who successfully completes one of the challenges gets to put one name suggestion for our little squirrel into the hat.

And that's where this gets fun…

We don't know what his name will be yet.

The players are going to give us the choices. Coach Jason is going to make the final decision. And YOU are going to get a chance to predict the winner. 👀🐿️

So for now, meet the newest — and definitely smallest — member of our LFA IL family.

COACH TRAINING… THEY TRAIN, SO WE CAN TRAIN! ⚽

Player development starts with coaches who are willing to keep learning, growing, and challenging themselves too.

This past weekend, our Lou Fusz Illinois coaching staff spent time training, collaborating, and continuing to build the knowledge they bring back to our players every week.

The drills may look different. The conversations may be different. But the goal is the same:

Keep learning. Keep improving. Keep raising the standard.

Because when our coaches invest in their own development, our players benefit from it every time they step on the field.

One week ago, our Lou Fusz Illinois players were back on the field for a kickaround and scrimmage—getting touches, competing, reconnecting and putting in a little extra work before the season officially begins.

This week, we’re counting down the days until our regular practice schedules kick off. 🔥
