We were founded as the Fibromyalgia Association of Michigan and now go by just the Fibromyalgia Association to reflect that our members are from the USA and beyond. The Fibromyalgia Association is a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of people with Fibro. We were founded by Sharon Waldrop, a person with fibromyalgia, in 1997 as a Support & Education Group at St. John Macomb Hospital in Wa

rren, MI. Sharon founded the group to give people a place to come to learn the most current understandings of Fibro and managing it, while being in a hopeful and supportive community. The group incorporated in 2003 as the 501(c)3 non profit, the Fibromyalgia Association of Michigan. In 2024 we dropped "of Michigan" from our name as we serve and support people with Fibro across the United States and beyond. Fibromyalgia knows no borders, and we are the same.
