Adoption Update!!
We adopted Elenora Skeletora (now Polly) six months ago and we just wanted to share an update and some pictures. She is doing great. We feel so fortunate. She is such a joy. Loving, friendly, hilarious. Always keeping us laughing. She takes her job as President of the Lake Monticello Neighborhood Watch very seriously.

We really wish more people would give these hounds a chance.

❤️🐾 Heartworm Positive Does NOT Mean Hopeless 🐾❤️

Every year, amazing dogs sit in shelters longer simply because they are heartworm positive — even though heartworm disease is treatable.
These dogs are loving, deserving, and ready for families of their own. Fluvanna SPCA currently has several dogs with this diagnosis and while it sounds scary, with treatment, rest, and support, many go on to live long, happy lives. Rocher, Cappo, Maverick and Jerrold are just waiting for families to help them through the treatments.

At Fluvanna SPCA:
🐶 We help with covering the cost of heartworm treatment for adopted dogs
🐶 Dogs can recover safely in foster homes during treatment
🐶 We work to give these dogs the second chance they deserve

The hardest part?
Many heartworm positive dogs are overlooked simply because people don’t understand the disease or the treatment process. We are here to help walk you through the treatment process.

💡 Heartworm Facts:
• Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes
• It is treatable in dogs
• Treatment requires rest and monitored recovery
• Dogs in treatment still deserve love, comfort, and a home

You can help by:
❤️ Adopting a heartworm positive dog
🏡 Fostering during treatment
💲 Donating to help cover lifesaving medical care
💊 Keeping your own pets on prevention
📣 Sharing their stories

These dogs are more than a diagnosis. They are future best friends waiting for someone to say yes. 🐾
