Troy Chamber of Commerce is operating under outdated leadership that is out of touch with the current needs for growth and innovation. The leadership team, many of whom have held their positions for years, seems apathetic and disconnected from the real issues facing local businesses. Worse, their combative, cliquish mentality is creating a toxic environment that stifles fresh ideas and progress. Younger, forward-thinking staff members are more than capable of taking the helm, but they remain overshadowed by a senior management team clinging to antiquated practices.
This chamber has become a breeding ground for divisiveness. Board members and senior leaders have fostered a system where only those within their circle of influence—whether through personal connections or favoritism—benefit from opportunities for growth. If you aren’t part of this exclusive group, don’t expect any meaningful support or solutions. This makes the Chamber a challenging and unwelcoming place for business owners genuinely seeking to grow their companies.
Real change is desperately needed, starting with a complete overhaul of the board and senior management. There needs to be more diversity and leadership that truly reflects the Troy community. Until those changes happen, I would strongly recommend avoiding this chamber if you want meaningful support for your business. Save your time, energy, and membership fees until the leadership reflects the inclusive, forward-thinking environment Troy deserves.
