Yesterday, Hillcrest Elementary remembered two students who would have been a part of the 6th grade class. It meant so much to our family, and I know the other family was appreciative, too.
We are incredibly thankful to Hillcrest for honoring Landon’s memory with the Landon Clay Matheny Award. Recognizing a student from his grade who reflects the same kind of character, kindness, and heart for others is truly special to us.
The verse shared, Galatians 5:13, “serve one another humbly in love,” is such a beautiful reminder of how Landon lived his life and the example he set.
With his family’s permission, I want to share the recipient, Mason. Mason was a classmate of Landon’s. I feel certain they would still be friends today because they were both two old souls even in first grade!
Mason is kind, respectful, and thoughtful. The way he treats others, shows compassion, and carries himself speaks volumes about his character. It is clear he carries the kind of spirit that makes a difference in the lives of others, and we are so honored that he was chosen for this award.
We also want to thank Mason’s precious family for raising such a wonderful young man.
Our hearts miss our boy so much, but we are full of gratitude that he is remembered .❤️
