Future supermodels of the marsh, currently in their awkward phase. Check out these egret chicks captured at the Ocean City Rookery! 🪹 🌊

These youngsters will grow into elegant snowy egrets, famous for their bright white plumage and striking yellow feet. New Jersey’s coastal marshes provide some of the state’s most important nesting habitat for snowy egrets, making protected rookery sites like this one essential habitat. 🌾

Good news in Trenton! 🎉 Today, the Senate Environment Committee unanimously released S3254, which prohibits the spending of Green Acres funds for artificial turf fields.

In recent years, the Green Acres Program has spent MILLIONS in public funding on artificial fields, including $10 million in 2023 and another $4 million in 2025. The Green Acres Program was created to protect New Jersey’s natural environment, not to pave it over with plastic. 🌱

Let’s keep the momentum going! 🔥 Take action to message Assemblyman Kennedy to post the Assembly version of the bill (A4908) at the next Committee for a vote asap at the link in bio!

Urgent! The Green Acres artificial turf bill is up for a vote in the Senate Environment Committee on Monday! 🌱

This bill prohibits the use of Green Acres funds for the purchase, installation, or replacement of artificial turf fields, and is essential for protecting NJ’s environment and public health. Green Acres funds should be used for conservation and safe recreation, not to subsidize plastic pollution! 🌳

Great news from the statehouse this morning for data center accountability in NJ! 🎉

Senator Ruiz’s and Assemblyman Venezia’ bill (S3379/A4096) passed out of Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee this morning, which is a huge step in the right direction so that communities, the public, and the state understand the true impact of data centers to our water and grid. 💧

Little Blue Herons are one of New Jersey’s regular breeding herons, and many nest in busy coastal rookeries alongside egrets and other wading birds, making the Jersey Shore an important stop for these elegant birds. 🌾
