Camp Jockey Hollow & Lake Rickabear in Northern New Jersey are highlighted for swimming, boating, ropes courses, horseback riding, arts & crafts, and confidence‑building programs. These camps emphasize strong female role models and lifelong friendships, which are major factors parents look for when choosing top‑rated camps. Financial assistance is available to families and is supported by local donations. These camps are open to all girls, not just Girl Scouts!

Eid al Adha, or the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, commemorating the profound act of faith by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.). According to Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim was prepared to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (A.S.), to obey Allah’s command. However, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram, signifying His mercy and approval of Ibrahim's devotion (Quran 37:102).

Muslims worldwide honor this momentous event by sacrificing an animal, such as a sheep, goat, or camel, on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah. The act symbolizes devotion, humility, and submission to the Divine will.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday that celebrates and honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Observed every year on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day in a nod to the tradition of placing flowers or other decorative displays at gravesites.

The origins of Memorial Day date back to the Civil War, which claimed the lives of some 620,000 soldiers. In the aftermath, devastated communities sought to honor their dead. The commemoration caught on across the nation, eventually expanding to honor fallen soldiers from all wars, but it wasn’t until 1971 that Memorial Day became a federal holiday.

Today, many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.

On February 23, 1903, the American Flag was raised for the first time on NSDAR grounds where Memorial Continental Hall was to be erected. The Flag and Flagpole were gifts from DC SAR. The gesture of this patriotic gift set the groundwork for a friendship that has lasted 120 years and is still going strong!
