Meet the Runners - #2 - Ryan Dunbar

Ryan was a pleasant surprise. In the work to find one more to join us, one of our other runners who'll you'll meet soon enough said, "There's this really red hair guy that I met in new hire orientation. He was a runer...like a serious runner. Let me figure out what his name is and I'll ask."

The rest is history. Ryan asked a few questions and ethusiastically joined. Please join us in welcoming him to the team and to learn a thing or two about him, in his own words:

"I was never a runner until the army, when I had to be, and have grown to love the simplicity and freedom that comes with running and especially the scenery and challenge of running outside.

My running accomplishments include completing a Fort4Fitness half marathon, a sprint triathlon, a nighttime trail 15K, as well as jogging (most of the way) up and down the Tongariro Alpine Crossing in New Zealand only because a storm was coming and I had to hurry.

A team relay is new to me and I'm excited for the teamwork and course and to help raise awareness and donations toward a cause that has impacted so many people around me."

Thank you for joining us Ryan. We appreciate your service. We're honored to have you join us.

We're excited to begin to introduce to you, our team of Runners Doing Good for 2023. Everyone on this team believes in making their miles matter by using their talents to shine a light on things that matter to them.

Up first...Kyle Williams! Here's a few words from the man himself:

"I enjoy running for a cause. Ragnar seems like a perfect opportunity, while supporting LLS this time. Last year I ran my first Fort 4 Fitness Triple Crown(10k, half-marathon, and 4 mile races combined) in memory of Steve Richardson. He was a co-worker of mine when I worked the 3rd shift in the computer room. Celeste, Donnevin, and the rest of HR made sure I had a shirt of my choice to be able to wear his name while I ran.

Following that, I also ran my first marathon in Detroit last year! The running community really is special and really supportive to one another. It brings people together and I enjoy just being able to utilize my talents to help recognize or help others."

As you can tell, Kyle's a pretty awesome guy and we're thrilled to have him on our team this year. As he mentioned, he, like the rest of us, are running to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

If you're interested in supporting him, please follow the link provided to donate and support Kyle in his running with us.

Latest Blog is up!

So it has certainly been awhile since my last posting. I thought I’d share the above picture because it very much speaks to me as I am, in many ways, seeking to make some sense of things. I a…

Cheers, 2022!
Gabe here. Heading into ‘23, this is the first year in a long time that Runners Doing Good and I don’t have a date with Ragnar headed into a new year. We also don’t have a charity or cause to run for yet. It feels a bit weird but I can give you a feeling that persists:
Appreciation. Appreciation for people like our families, our runners, our supporters, and fellow runners that we’ve met along this running adventure.
I am a proud, PROUD, Ragnar Ambassador and perks of promoting this incredible series of events include potentially earning a free race. I’m more than halfway there and can’t wait to earn that first freebie. I truly feel we’ll be out there but have no idea where. It is too special of a thing to just quit.
One thing I can promise you is that if you see Runners Doing Good out there in 2023, we’ll be an actual nonprofit looking to forge our own path in helping other amazing causes and groups. If you’re interested in being an supporter to help us get off the ground, let me know.
Lastly, there’s a book coming. There have been so many lessons I’ve learned in this process that I’ve got to share. Hopefully by this time next year, I can call myself and author.
It’s been a great year and while ‘23 is far more uncertain than recent years, I have a lot of optimism that the best may be yet to come.
God Bless. Be Safe. Happy New Year!
And remember:
