It's giving Tuesday, please consider the your local Mid-Shore chapter in your year-end giving. We know there are a lot of organizations worthy of your hard earned money, and the IWLA Mid-Shore is one of them. Funds received will be used for improvements at Bolingbroke Park! The new roof on the pavilion is nearly complete, and we would like to begin thinking about other improvements and upgrades, including for outdoor cooking, electricity and lighting, and plumbing!

Visit our website and click on the donate button in the upper right corner!

A big thank you goes out to the folks at Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, who scanned the original Chapter Charter that created the Izaak Walton League of America Mid-Shore Chapter. This document was signed 75 years ago this month, and we now have a digital copy of it. We will work on enhancing the image so we can see some of the original signatures a little more clearly.

This scanner is a very cool piece of equipment, and gave us a fantastic result to help preserve our history, which you can read about on our Chapter on our website (https://sites.google.com/view/mid-shorechapter/home/about-us).

Thanks again CBMM!

The Izaak Walton League's 2024 national convention, with the theme "Restoring Our Great Waters – Taking Action Today to Secure a Better Future," is in the books! At Tuesday's panel discussion, convention participants heard from three experts in three regions who discussed habitat restoration, invasive species, nonpoint-source pollution and other challenges. Peter Tango, monitoring coordinator for the Chesapeake Bay Program (shown here) talked about cross-cutting problems in America's largest estuary. Teresa Seidel, director of the Environmental Protection Agency's Great Lakes National Program Office, explained restoration efforts in the region that accounts for roughly one-fifth of the surface freshwater on Earth. And Jeff Janvrin, Mississippi River Habitat Specialist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, described the importance of helping people identify with a "sense of place" for their watershed.
