To minimize further damage to our targets, we removed all of the bear targets and a few other targets that the bear enjoyed knocking over. We also decided now that the 3D shoots are done for the year to shutdown part of the course. Targets 1 to 14 remain open for shooting, as is the elevated stand, and 3 targets on the walking trail back to the cemetery.

We will keep the range open as long as the weather cooperates. The course is in good shape so come out and shoot!

We had two more targets knocked over, both of them were bear targets. There were claw marks on the back of one. These targets were at our elevated platform stand, where we have numerous practice targets. I had setup a trail camera there and got photos of our "vandal". After my last post I had some people questioning if the damage was really caused by a bear. Take a look at these photos. He is walking away from the two targets that got knocked over.

We had an uninvited "guest" at the archery range the other day, a bear damaged many of our targets. About 10 targets were knocked over, most were easily repairable. One is destroyed and we temporarily fixed some legs with duct tape. Our bear target on 11 is now missing it's head! We can't find it. Maybe we will have better luck when the leaves are off the trees. We replaced the destroyed target but won't be fixing the others until this Winter. The range is open for shooting.

We had a great Brat Fry yesterday! Thanks to everyone who stopped by. In addition to the Brat Fry sales we picked up 6 new members! Welcome to our club!

We held our last club shoot of the season on Saturday. The weather couldn't have been better. We had 14 shooters, several drove a long ways to shoot our course: Florence and Rhinelander. They brought some very good youth archers. Everyone had a great time.

The 3D targets will remain on the range until the end of October or early November. Your membership allows you to shoot the course at any time. If you need to renew or purchase a membership this can be done at Pintsch's hardware in Townsend.

The Crivitz Bowhunters club still has one more shoot, September 12 and 13. I always enjoy shooting there. Very friendly and a nice course.

The final 3D shoot of the year will be held this Saturday, August 8th. Come on out and enjoy shooting and socializing. Registration opens at 9 and lunch will be available.

The Rib Mountain Bowmen are hosting a Women's Archery Weekend on August 28-30.

We had a really great shoot on Saturday, July 11. 28 people attended the shoot, with 22 registered shooters. We had numerous shooters who were not members. Some paid the daily $10 shooting fee, while others saw the financial benefit of purchasing a $15 annual membership.

The top two shooters were non-members; Ken Rohloff (276), and Jim Teal (272)
The top traditional shooter was Niklas Brunow (181)

Buddy Schaut has been a generous supporter for several years and attended the shoot with his friend and member, Owen Morgan, Buddy is a very experienced archer but had never shot a 3D course before. He scored 262! Not bad for the first time. With a little more experience he will be someone to watch out for. Owen who shot with him, started out a little slow but ended up with a 258. This was the first time that Owen had shot the course since we expanded the range to 28 all 3D targets. Great shooting to Buddy and Owen.

We had many other good scores and everyone had a great time. I hope to see even more shooters at our next shoot on August 8th. Tell your friends!

We are hosting a 3D shoot at our range on July 11. Come on out and shoot the course or just socialize. There will be a bonfire and lunch is available to purchase. The June shoot was well attended and everyone had a great time.
