Do you want to be employed but worry about losing your benefits? This is a huge misconception. There are resources like PA Able that allow individuals to save money without penalty. There are also Benefit Counselors that can meet with you explain how it all works and work with you to assure no benefits are lost. Finally, the sun has arrived, and the flowers are all blooming! It was a perfect time for us to meet Sophie who works at Shore Sisters in Wysox. It was a pleasure to meet her and her supervisor, Laura. Thank you Shore Sisters for allowing us to get to see the wonderful job that Sophie does!

On April 14th the Employment Coalition provided their 2nd annual Navigating the Employment Process for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. The presentation was a huge success due to the presenters who provided so much valuable information regarding employment, safety and financial services. Over 70 people attended this event. Thank you to the Towanda High School Cafe for providing delicious treats and coffee and to Jones Diner for the great lunch! I hope I don't forget anyone but a huge thank you to our presenters: Dana Neely, Department of Attorney General Office, OVR, Pa. Career Link, Stephen Shope, PaAble, Serve, Inc, Office of Developmental Programs, Penn York Opportunities, Bridge Program, Blast IU 17 transition and for the support of the County Commissioners.
