Let's face it, tree pruning is not easy! If you have fruit trees that look more like a “haunted orchard” than a “bountiful harvest”, then this workshop is for you.

The City of Torrington Conservation Commission, Northwest Conservation District, and Five Points are hosting a Tree Pruning Workshop on:

Saturday, March 21, 2026
10 am to 1 pm
852 University Drive, Torrington
Park at Five Points across the street.

Learn from Mike Nadeau, a nationally recognized arborist and organic land care expert with more than 30 years of experience. He will cover:

• Tree rehabilitation techniques
• Smart pruning and maintenance strategies
• Soil health and nutrition tips
• Pest and disease management

Whether you are brand new to fruit trees or have been tending them for years, you will walk away with practical skills to keep your trees healthy and productive.

Dress for the weather.

RSVP to Nate Nardi-Cyrus at 860-489-2221 or [email protected]

Red Mountain Trail Construction
Notice of Public Presentation

The City of Torrington is developing plans to build a new multi-use trail from North Elm Street to Newfield Road, mostly behind the Ocean State Job Lot Plaza. The project will be comprised of street and signal enhancements and new trail construction, which will provide for safer pedestrian and bicycle travel. The project is financed by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Conservation’s Recreational Trails Grants Program and City of Torrington.

It is anticipated that construction will begin in the summer of 2025. It is the City of Torrington’s and the State’s policy to keep people informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community be informed and share its concerns to assist in the project’s development.
The public is invited to attend a hybrid presentation to be held in person in the Council Chambers (Room 218) and remotely by Teams online meeting platform on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 6:00 PM (Eastern Time).

Warm weather will be here soon and green will be everywhere. Join us to make this a great Earth Day !
