We volunteer to teach adults to
read, write, and speak English. Since 1981, we proudly support learners on their journey toward stronger communication skills.

At the South Bay Literacy Council, we help adults build confidence in reading, writing, and speaking English. We offer flexible options to fit every lifestyle—whether it’s one-on-one tutoring, small group sessions, or online classes. No matter the format, our focus is always on meeting learners where they are and helping them move forward. Our dedicated volunteer tutors bring creativity and care to every lesson. The real magic comes from how classes are shaped around each student’s personal goals. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach—just personalized support designed to help every learner grow and succeed. Your goals. Your pace. Your success.
