To recognise one’s own reality is the true sakshatkara or realisation. If there is no change in your attitude, all your spiritual practices like japa, meditation, yoga, karma, seva or service will serve no purpose. It is not the man but the mind that should change. The change of character is more important than the change of clothes.

We aspire for peace and comfort all the time, but where can we find it? Is it to be found in the material world around us? Experience shows that the peace or happiness got from external objects is not enduing. It is like a mirage, which cannot quench the thirst of the deluded animal that runs towards it. The real source of peace is within every individual and it is this inner peace that can confer real joy.

It is a greater mistake and sin to say “All is God” in mere words only and, while doing so, to treat some as unholy in actual practice. … Real change must be made in daily conduct and behavior, for these are within the experience of all, they can be easily practised, and their purpose can be clearly grasped. It is only when these are transformed that the inner Atma, deeper, more mysterious, and more essential, can be understood.
