Friends,
As a member of Humanists of Topeka, you already know how meaningful it is to have a local community where we can share our values, discuss big ideas, and support one another.
We build a strong humanist presence right here in our neighborhood by working together and brainstorming solutions to common issues.
But our local impact is magnified when we connect with the broader humanist movement. That's why I wanted to share a special offer: Right now, the American Humanist Association — the national organization Humanists of Topeka is affiliated with — is offering our local group members a special discount (more than 50%!) on regular annual membership. Usually $45 a year, you can join today for just $20.

Why does national membership matter if you're already part of our local group?
AHA national is what makes local groups like ours possible. Unlike many national organizations that charge local chapters steep annual fees to operate, the AHA does not take money from us. They provide all of our leadership training, tech support, organizational tools, and more, entirely for free. Whenever I need guidance on running this group, managing our finances, reaching new members, or organizing important activism, the AHA staff is there to back me up.
But to continue to be able to provide this level of support, and increase support in the future, they need us, local group members, to come together to help fund it. Essentially, supporting AHA is a great way to support us. It ensures we keep getting the free resources we need to thrive, while connecting you to the broader secular movement.
When you join AHA, you also receive benefits: a subscription to The Humanist magazine, discounts on AHA conferences, and a real vote in how the organization is run.
As a member, you get to vote for AHA's Board of Directors. That means you help decide who leads the organization and what they prioritize. If you want AHA to invest more in local organizing and building communities like ours across the country, the board is where that direction gets set.
Membership connects you to a virtual network of humanists working through the same questions we wrestle with here: how to grow as individuals, how to engage our communities, how to make humanist values visible in public life, and even just sharing everything from good news to humanist memes.
Remember, being a member of Humanists of Topeka does not automatically make you a member of AHA.

Thank you for everything you do to make [Local Group Name] such a wonderful community. I hope you will consider taking this next step to stand with humanists nationwide.
For humanism,
Sean Davis
The American Humanist Association advocates progressive values and equality for humanists, atheists, freethinkers, and the non-religious across the country.
