Topeka Doula Project Providing education, support, and guidance during pregnancy, labor & birth, and the postpartum period

A Topeka area nonprofit offering volunteer doula support to teen mothers, incarcerated mothers, and low-income single mothers. We serve pregnant women through prenatal education, continuous labor support, and sustained postpartum community connection. Our goals are to provide pregnancy and childbirth education that entrusts mothers to make informed decisions about their care, to empower moms to ma

ke healthy decisions for the well-being of themselves and their children, and to improve the mother’s birth experience. I consider myself a full-spectrum doula; someone who brings the doula model of care to people across the full spectrum of pregnancy experiences, including abortion, adoption, surrogacy, miscarriage, and stillbirth. I offer nonjudgmental support during these times to help women processing the experience and move forward.

“I felt like I was doing something wrong.” 💔

Hearing the word “sepsis” is terrifying. But being treated poorly when you are at your most vulnerable? That’s unacceptable.

Thank you to for bravely sharing your story. Your voice is a reminder to every mother out there: trust your gut, demand answers, and know that you are not alone.

🔴MATERNAL SEPSIS🔴
Doula Kayla’s Own Story (Part 1)

“I was only two weeks postpartum, and my fever spiked to 105°F.”

As doulas, we spend our lives educating and protecting birthing families. But maternal medical emergencies can happen to anyone, even us. In Part 1, our very own doula opens up about her scary experience with maternal sepsis. Sepsis is a life threatening complication, and know the signs can quite literally save your life. Stay tuned to our page to her the rest of her story.

Kayla Way of Life Motherhood Care is taking clients in Miami, Linn, Franklin, and Johnson county. Feel free to reach out to her directly or complete our intake and choose her as your doula.

Data from the Sepsis Alliance shows that maternal sepsis drives up to 14% of pregnancy-related deaths in the United States, making it a leading cause of maternal mortality. This condition escalates dangerously fast, yet the initial warning signs are frequently overlooked. Maternal sepsis is highly preventable if caught in time. To conclude Maternal Sepsis Awareness Week, we invite you to stay tuned, as our own Doula Kayla shares her personal sepsis survival story.

They say family is life’s greatest blessing. They don't always mention the 3:00 AM wake-up calls, the mountain of laundry, or the permanent coffee stains.

This International Day of Families, we celebrate every path that leads to parenthood. Whether your family was built through birth, adoption, or community.

What we know for sure: Maternal health is family health. When we support the person at the center of the family unit, everyone thrives.

Happy International Day of Families to everyone currently in the trenches of parenthood. You’re doing a great job, and we’re here to help you navigate the journey.
