I can’t say it enough—I am SO proud of our JAG-K students. ❤️

Our first-ever Student-Led Career Fair was completely driven by them, and they rose to the occasion in every way. They welcomed 5th and 6th grade students, shared their knowledge about different careers, and spoke with confidence and purpose.

Watching them take ownership, support each other, and step into leadership roles was such a rewarding moment. They didn’t just complete a project—they created an experience that made an impact on younger students.

Seeing their growth, effort, and pride in what they were doing meant everything. This group continues to impress me, and I feel lucky to work with such motivated, capable students.

They should be incredibly proud of themselves—because I definitely am. 💙

Plus the National Honor Society students as well!

Neveah & Richelle- Cosmetology
Kamryn & Emily - Supply Chain
Damien - Nursing/ Flight Nursing
Anna-Special Education
Maddox & Tyler - Teaching (they did a “What to wear and what not to wear” 🤣)
Alastor - Firefighting
Teddy & Richard - Marines

The HP Mini Market is finally coming together! This project has been in the works for most of the school year, and we recently held a small soft opening to mark the progress.

Huge thanks to Michelle Brooks with Community Connections and Let’s Help for bringing this opportunity to our school. My students have been working hard with Community Connections on the logistics, from unloading the trucks to making sure every donation actually made it into the space. 📦💪

It’s been a long process getting everything moved in, but it’s great to see all that physical work starting to pay off for our school community.

So proud of our JAG-K leaders! 🏆

We are thrilled to share that a Highland Park JAG-K student has been represented on the Royal Court for every major school event this year—from Homecoming and Winter Royalty to the upcoming Prom. Seeing our students recognized by their peers as leaders across the entire school is exactly what this program is about.

Leadership in action! 👑✨

Yesterday, Topeka High JAG-K students competed at the JAG-K Region 2 Career Development Conference — and I could not be more proud of this incredible group of young leaders!

Every single student gave their all, stepping up, challenging themselves, and representing our program with determination and heart. Some brought home medals and state qualifications, while others fell just short — but each one showed courage, growth, and true dedication. Partciipants included:

🏆 **State Qualifiers – 2nd Place PBL**
Caleb Alvarez, Brock Rogers, and Daijon Kent

🎤 **Prepared Speaking**
Johana Casarrubias Nunez

💼 **Career Preparation**
Katylynn Burgen

🧠 **Creative Decision Making**
Laniyah Grant, Justice Cameron, and Ciara Hartz

⭐ **Financial Literacy**
Malachi Gamble placed 5th — an outstanding accomplishment, just shy of qualifying for state.

Win or lose, these students showed resilience, professionalism, and the courage to compete. Watching them grow, support one another, and strive for excellence is why I love what I do.

I am truly lucky to work with such an amazing group of students. The future is bright! 💙

Yesterday, Marysville Jr/Sr High School Bulldogs proudly competed at our Regional CDC competition! Region 2 is known for being one of the toughest regions in the state, and our students rose to the challenge with determination, confidence, and professionalism.

For all but two of these students, this was their very first time ever competing — which makes their accomplishments even more impressive!

🏅 Norman Jurgensen – Employability Skills
Competing for the first time ever, Norman earned an outstanding 6th Place finish!

🏅 Emily Rockwell – Career Preparation
Emily represented Marysville with excellence and earned 5th Place in a very competitive category.

Damien Waddell – Prepared Speaking
Damien delivered a strong performance and represented our program with confidence.

🏅 Alastor Craig, Maddox Hoskins, & Kamryn Serr – Creative Decision Making
This team earned 6th Place, marking our first time ever medaling in this event — a huge milestone accomplishment!

We are incredibly proud of each of these students for stepping outside of their comfort zones and representing Marysville with integrity, leadership, and Bulldog pride. The growth they’ve shown since joining the program has been amazing to watch, and this competition is just another example of how far they’ve come!

Highland Park JAG-K had an amazing day of service at the Kansas Museum of History! Our students stepped up as leaders, managing the welcome desk and running hands-on stations for kids in arts, voting, geography, and construction. 🎨🗳️🗺️

The day got even better with a tour of the museum's stunning new renovations!

🎥 Spotted in the News: Keep an eye out for Tremaine Savage! He was interviewed by the local news, sharing his experience representing JAG-K and giving back to our community. 🎤

We are so proud of our Scots for their leadership and professionalism! 💙❤️

The event, free to attend, emphasized that history isn’t just remembered but lived, as Kansas didn’t begin with a state line but with people, cultures and stories that still shape the Sunflower State Thursday.

Yesterday on the federal holiday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Junction City High School JAG-K students didn’t sleep in. Instead, several students participated in Junction City’s 41st Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.

The program teamed up with JAG-K Board of Director, Daphne Maxwell, who chairs the MLK Committee and helped the committee execute their desire to put YOUTH IN ACTION.

This year’s theme was “From the Mind and Mouth of Martin” and the ceremony was led by youth for the very first time!

Our very own, Alani Burks, opened up with the national anthem and later informed the audience about the JAG-K program. Students recited MLK quotes that stood out to them and even showcased some of these inspiring quotes on their tshirts.

Several attendees donated hygiene items for the JCHS 2 JAG-K program’s hygiene drive AND several more signed up for employer engagement opportunities with the program!

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our students have been working so hard on their Career Prep projects, and the results have been amazing! From flight nurses and teachers to cosmetologists and marine biologists, our classroom turned into a mini world of careers this week. 🌍💼

They researched, planned, and shared what their future could look like — and it was so cool to see their personalities, dreams, and creativity come through. Some students are ready to save lives, some to style hair, some to teach the next generation, and some to explore the ocean… and honestly, we love it all. 💙

So proud of the effort, confidence, and imagination they showed. Big dreams start right here!
