Current status: Drooling over this picture from our customer Hannah of her quinoa-and-chickpea-stuffed acorn squash with whipped tofu, made with almost all Full Circle ingredients!

We can't replace every single thing in your grocery cart yet, but we can get you most of the way toward some pretty gourmet meals.

This week's selection includes squash, bell peppers, green beans, radishes, onions, apples, potatoes, and salad greens...plus all the year-round usual stuff (meat, mushrooms, eggs, cheese, bread, yogurt, tofu, grains, nuts, dried fruit...) All sustainably grown...local and organic when possible.

P.S. to anyone looking for the recipe: unfortunately this is a one-of-a-kind creation, but Hannah said she combined various recipes from Rainbow Plant Life, so check them out online for inspiration!

Looking for something fun to do this Saturday (after you stop at Full Circle)? How about a scavenger hunt hosted by the Washburn Ecobods? You can participate as an individual or on a team of up to four people. And if you're one of the first finishers, you'll even win a $50 Full Circle gift card!

No need to register in advance—just show up on the south side of Stoffer Hall a little before 2 p.m. to start scavenging!

Three years ago today, we announced the transition from Topeka Growers Group (offering local grocery delivery) to Full Circle Sustainability (the multifaceted sustainability hub you see today)! 🥳

A big player in that transition was the CRC, and we really can't credit them enough for giving us the opportunity to work toward the broad vision we have for a more sustainable Topeka.

From our first meeting, they believed in that vision. They helped us incorporate as a nonprofit. They said "yes" to our crazy idea of starting a combination grocery store+recycling hub in one of their buildings. They rented to us at a rate that made opening a shop possible. They provide a receptionist who greets our suppliers. A custodian who sets up tables for us in a gymnasium large enough for Fix-It Clinics and swaps. It's a partnership that benefits us in so many ways.

So in honor of our "birthday," we raise a glass of locally brewed kombucha 🥂 to a partner who has been instrumental to our success so far and continues helping us work toward our potential! Thanks, CRC!

Our first yard waste collection day is less than two weeks away, and the Type A half of Full Circle is entering FINAL PLANNING MODE!

Help her figure out how much yard waste we'll be wrangling, where the yard waste is located, and how many more helpers we need by signing up for service at the link in the comments!

Our fall pickup days wil be Oct. 24, Nov. 7, and Nov. 21.

Thanks to three amazing volunteers (shout out to Rhonda, Betty, and Debbie!), our gym full of boxes has been transformed into a holiday market!

Come get a year's worth of decorations without buying anything new! And we've got it all:

Christmas trees - lights - garland - wreathes - wrapping paper - textiles - ornaments galore - door hangings - little figurines - jack-o-lanterns - cornucopias - witches' hats - so many pumpkins - Easter eggs - flag decor - and more!

We've got so much good stuff coming in for the Holiday Decor Swap! Come help unbox it and get it organized, Friday starting at 5:00 p.m. The more people who come to help, the faster we'll get done!

Then come in on Saturday to take some treasures home. We'll be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or 10 a.m. if you have a ticket for early entry). See you there!

Good news for lettuce lovers: We are excited to be carrying hydroponic lettuce from 41Community Greenhouse!

Hydroponic growing is pretty cool. Plants grow in a nutrient-rich water solution rather than soil, which helps them grow faster, actually uses less water, and can be done year-round in small indoor spaces. That means lots of local lettuce, even when it's not lettuce season! 41Community Greenhouse is really focused on making healthy, sustainably grown food accessible and affordable, and we're sure you'll love their lovely lettuce—available through Full Circle in four varieties.

We'd recommend ordering online to get the best selection. We'll deliver it to you on Thursday evening, or you can come pick it up in the shop on Friday or Saturday. Find all the details on our website (at the link in the comments).

Shout out to our friend Charlotte for answering the call for delivery help this week! And on a very rainy delivery day no less. Charlotte isn’t just OUR friend, she’s the force behind Ecofriends (a Facebook/meetup group for sustainably minded Topekans) and a true friend of the Earth.

If you want to be like Charlotte and help make it easier to get local groceries 52 weeks a year, consider becoming a delivery volunteer! Aside from our events, it's the #1 way we can use volunteers and is honestly kind of fun…especially if you do it with a co-pilot or a good playlist!

Our regular delivery helpers are all unavailable this week, so if you've ever considered volunteering as a delivery driver, this would be a great week to try it out! It's actually kind of fun—especially if you bring a friend—and it's a great way to support our goal of making it easier to access sustainably grown local food!

Sign up to volunteer for our Yard Waste Collection Program! We are looking for drivers and passengers to help pick up leaves, branches, and other compostable yard debris this fall.

Drivers will use their own vehicle to pick up bagged and bundled yard waste from houses on their assigned route and take it to one of the yard waste composting facilities in town. Passengers will help with navigation and assist with loading/unloading. We’ll send more details to volunteers as the time gets closer.

And if you’re looking to have your yard waste picked up, stay tuned! We’ll let you know when it’s time to sign up for that. We’re excited to start keeping limbs and leaves out of the landfill!
