FeLV is one of the most misunderstood diagnoses in rescue medicine, and many people are surprised to learn there are different types of infection with very different outcomes.
Some cats suppress the virus so well that they can live long, happy lives with little to no symptoms. Others may need more medical support and monitoring. Understanding the difference matters, because these cats are so much more than a diagnosis.
As veterinary professionals, education is one of the biggest parts of our mission. The more people understand feline leukemia, the more chances these cats have at finding homes, fosters, and advocates willing to give them a chance.
