The Old West End Association and the Lucas County Land Bank will announce a joint effort to revitalize the abandoned former Epworth United Methodist Church on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Parkwood & West Delaware.

The organizations are seeking a redevelopment partner to transform the building into a mix of residential and commercial uses to benefit the neighborhood. A feasibility study developed by the Old West End Association and a dedicated website will be released publicly.

The iconic building, with over 34,000 usable square feet of space, has been a mainstay of the neighborhood for about 100 years, but it was abandoned more than 10 years ago

Speakers will include Laure Hammond, President of the Old West End Association, and David Mann, President & CEO of the Land Bank. Invited speakers include local elected officials, neighborhood residents and business owners, and Heritage Ohio.

A zoning change, from RM36 (Multi-dwelling Residential) to CO (Commercial Office), has been proposed for 3325, 3329 & 3350 Collingwood Blvd. The site would also require an SUP (Special Use Permit) for use as a Psychiatric Hospital. The case will be go before the Toledo-Lucas County Plan Commission on March 13th.
A public meeting has been scheduled with the applicant for interested residents on Thursday, March 20th at the Kent Branch Library from 6-7pm.
The case will be heard by the City of Toledo Zoning & Planning Committee on Wed. April 16th. @ 4pm.

Did you know the OWEA has a picnic coming up next Tuesday? It is one of our Old West End Association General meetings. A Great Way to meet some new people!

Did you also know that if you want to vote in the election of officers for 2025 you need to attend two meetings prior? Attending this picnic would be a considered meeting attendance, and there are only a few months and meetings remaining before elections start. AND YES, YOUR VOTE COUNTS!
