A cold weather advisory is in effect until 10 AM EST Wednesday for Lucas County and northwest Ohio, with wind chill values plummeting as low as 24 below zero. This extreme cold can lead to frostbite and hypothermia in exposed skin within just 30 minutes. Expected low temperatures in the area will range from 5 above to 12 below zero, and conditions are expected to remain dangerously cold through Wednesday night. It's important to dress in layers, keep pets indoors, and check on vulnerable individuals during this severe weather.

For individuals being released from the Lucas County Jail with no place to go, our deputies will transport those seeking shelter to various warming centers.
