Today the Veterans Memorial at Williamson High School was the site of a wreath laying, thanks in part to the Elkland Moose Riders who hosted the ceremony to honor our veterans and mark America’s upcoming 250th birthday. Thank you!

Remember, Honor, Teach. Saturday was Wreaths Across America day, where evergreen wreaths are laid at the graves of veterans across the country to honor of their service and sacrifice. We also placed a wreath at the Vietnam War memorial at Williamson High School, in memory of those from Tioga County who fought and lost their lives during the Vietnam War.

The Mansfield Foundation will once again host a Veterans Appreciation Dinner at the Mansfield Fire Hall on November 7. It is free to attend for a veteran and their guest. This year’s keynote speaker is USMC and Navy veteran, Montel Williams.

Today, we honor those who served in the Vietnam War. March 29th is designated as National Vietnam War Veterans Day, in honor of the last U.S. combat troops removed from the country in 1973. Earlier today, members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 803 and Marine Corps League held ceremonies for those who served during the Vietnam War era, at Woodlawn National Cemetery and Eldridge Park in Elmira.

FINAL FAREWELL: On Monday morning, March 3, 2025 at 7:00 a.m., Frank Yungwirth will depart our area for his final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery. A brief send-off ceremony will be held at the Pizza Hut/CVS Plaza at 6:45 a.m., followed by a police-escorted funeral procession at 7:00 a.m. through Mansfield to AJ's Powersports, where the procession will merge onto the highway. We invite our community to line the route as a final tribute to Frank, a Vietnam Veteran who served with honor and later inspired countless lives as a teacher in Wellsboro.
