We had a wonderful visit to Featherbed Lane Elementary School last week! 🎉

Our Executive Director, Wendy Stringfellow, and Program Manager, Lisa Shealey, had the opportunity to meet with Haydee Manning (Care Liaison) and Jessica Hyman (CSF), whose dedication is making a meaningful difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable students every day. 💙

A special congratulations to new Principal James Marthe — we look forward to continuing this important partnership!

Thank You, Loyola Blakefield!

We are incredibly grateful to the students, families, and staff at Loyola Blakefield for their generous support of Student Support Network throughout this school year.

Through their food drives and volunteer efforts, Loyola Blakefield donated a significant amount of pantry items to help stock our Hub and support Baltimore County students and families experiencing food insecurity.

Thank you, Loyola Blakefield, for your continued commitment to our mission. We are excited to build on this partnership and work together again next year!

💧 May is National Water Safety Month! 💧

Learning to swim is more than a life skill—it can save lives.

Drowning is preventable, and every child deserves access to water safety education. Baltimore County families may be eligible to receive up to $1,000 toward swim lessons for children who:
✔️ Live in Baltimore County
✔️ Have Medical Assistance
✔️ Attend mental health treatment

To learn more about eligibility, contact the Baltimore County Department of Health:
📞 410-887-3828
📧 [email protected]

🏊 Local swim lesson providers include Brick Bodies, British Swim School, Coppermine, the JCC of Greater Baltimore, and Kids First Swim Schools.

Water safety matters for children and adults alike. Help spread the word by sharing drowning prevention resources with your family, friends, and community.

Welcome our new Program Coordinator, Keisha Walker! 🎉

Keisha brings experience in nonprofit work, including serving as a volunteer coordinator for a diaper bank, and is passionate about supporting children and families through mission-driven community service. Most recently, she volunteered as a literacy tutor at a local elementary school.

Before transitioning to nonprofit work, Keisha worked for many years as a registered nurse supporting pregnant and postpartum people. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, yoga, birding, and watching sports—especially women’s basketball!

We’re excited to have Keisha join the Student Support Network team! 💙

May 11-17 is Period Poverty Awareness Week. Did you know that period poverty is a major part of the Student Support Network's mission? During the Covid19 pandemic, we distributed over $100,000 in period products just in the first six months of the pandemic. Today, we pack and distribute over 500 period packs annually to support students in need.

It’s that time of year where we have to say goodbye to our amazing interns from Towson University 🥲

We can’t thank you enough for everything you brought to the Student Support Network this semester. From showing up for the heavy lifting to helping things run behind the scenes (and everything in between), you made a real impact.

We’re definitely going to miss you around here, but we’re also so excited to see what you do next. No doubt you’re going to keep doing great things.

Don’t be strangers—once part of SSN, always part of it 💛
