Nico is officially out and about!
Our first order of business coming back from our mini vacation was to get Nico out in the main yard. Nico, who we adopted from the Roswell shelter, has graduated from hanging out in his pen to roaming the main yard and so far, this big guy is doing GREAT.
He’s now spending his days walking around the property alongside the pigs, goats and chickens. He can’t go into their pens just yet—we’re taking introductions slowly and making sure everyone stays safe and comfortable—but Nico is already showing us that he will be a wonderful addition to our sanctuary crew.
One of his first big tests? Liza, our roving chicken. If you know Liza, you know she pretty much considers the entire property her personal chicken yard. She goes where she wants, when she wants, so naturally Nico was going to meet her sooner rather than later.
And he did SO well with her. He was calm, respectful and showed exactly the kind of behavior we’re hoping to see around the smaller residents.
There’s still plenty of time, supervision and slow introductions ahead before Nico gets more freedom around everyone, but this is a really encouraging start.
And now Nico needs a few people on his team!
As a permanent Safe Place resident, Nico will need food, routine veterinary care, preventatives and all the other things that come with keeping a very large, very fluffy boy happy and healthy. We’d love to find monthly sponsors who want to help us provide for Nico for the long haul.
Even a small recurring monthly gift helps us know that Nico’s needs will be covered month after month.
If you’ve already fallen a little bit in love with this handsome guy, maybe Nico is the animal you’ve been waiting to sponsor. ❤️
Good boy, Nico. We know you’re going to fit in just fine.
