African Road builds long term relationships with local Changemakers, for the life, health and growth of communities in East Africa.

We are a global group of friends partnering with local changemakers for transformation in East Africa. We come alongside these leaders by providing respectful, practical help through financial support and collaborative project development. Our goal is to create long-term change that builds capacity and leads to healthy outcomes.

The kicks off today. Billions of people watching the beautiful game.

We're thinking about a pitch in Rwanda.

In 2020, the Portland Timbers and Thorns' Stand Together Fields for All program partnered with African Road and the Togetherness Youth Cooperative to build the first international field in that program's history. These photos are from that build. Community members, young people, and partners laying the foundation together.

For over 20 years, Togetherness has used football to connect survivors, build peace, and create space for girls to lead. This pitch isn't just grass and goals. It's infrastructure for community development that will outlast any tournament.

NEW BLOG POST: A long time friend of African Road grew up on a farm. As a child, he saved enough money to buy a single pig. That pig, and the income it eventually produced, helped move his family forward economically.

When he learned that African Road was working to launch a pig project in Burundi through an initiative started by Changemaker Evariste, he didn’t hesitate. He helped fund the launch. And now we are seeing the progress.

After a beautiful Rooted and Rising Gala, our team sat down to write the notes because that's what this community deserves. Every person who showed up on May 3rd made this possible.

Now she owns a business. Violet too. Both building local economies in Rwanda and Tanzania. Not because of outside help, but because of each other.

Looking back at last week’s African Road Fundraising Gala!

We ate, laughed and learned about building real community. We also heard firsthand expertise from the Changemakers about the progress being made in East Africa from the partnership.

As you can see we also had a paddle raise experience that raised funds so we could continue our work, together.

Matching Funds Opportunity Extended!

When we raise and reach $150,000 together, a matching funds challenge of $50,000 will be released to reach the $200,000 goal.

African Road is at $101,100 raised and now we're looking to raise the additional $48,900 to reach our goal. Together, we can do it.
