salutes Disabled Women's Equal Pay Day. From : Women with disabilities face pay disparities rooted in ableism, workplace discrimination, and structural barriers that limit access to jobs, accommodations, and economic opportunity. Women with disabilities are more likely to be concentrated in low-wage and subminimum wage jobs.

Without policy reform, these pay inequities will persist. While we work to advance change, AAUW’s free salary negotiation and financial literacy programs can help you advocate for fair pay and strengthen your long-term economic security.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The theme this year is "With Survivors, Always".
DID YOU KNOW: 1)Ventura County averages approximately 7,000 allegations of domestic violence every year. 2) The nonprofit Coalition for Family Harmony provided crucial shelter and support to more than 5,500 domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in 2025 alone. 3)To address a critical shortage of emergency placement beds, a new specialized domestic violence shelter opened adjacent to the Ventura County Justice Center, optimizing rapid 15-to-20-day safe housing and legal transitions for fleeing victims. (KCLU & Spectrum News).

What's the Truth Act?
The Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds (TRUTH) Act (Assembly Bill 2792) is a California law that requires local governing bodies (such as County Boards of Supervisors) to hold an annual public community forum whenever local law enforcement agencies provide U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) access to individuals in custody.
The meeting will be held, Tuesday, October 20th at 4pm to watch the report as given to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. Stay informed.
