VENMO USERS!

There are several fraudulent Venmo accounts pretending to be us. Unfortunately, this is something that happens to many rescues— it’s an easy way for scammers to collect money, and it’s difficult to get these accounts removed, even when they’re reported.

Please know we are not connected to these accounts, we report them (and encourage others to report them), and we have no control over Venmo’s removal process.

How to make sure you’re donating to the real us:
• We’re the only account listed under CHARITIES
• We have the blue verification checkmark (when you click on us)
• Our handle is

We understand how frustrating this is. It’s frustrating for us too! Those funds should be going directly to vet bills, supplies, and saving lives.

Best ways to help:
• Double check before sending
• Report fake accounts when you see them
• When in doubt, message us to confirm!

COURTESY POST FOR THISISHOUSTON RESCUE.

MEET PENNY 💕

Penny came to us last summer from Galveston Humane Society as a cruelty case, but despite her past, she is nothing short of amazing. She is approximately 5 years old and completely blind—yet you’d never know it by her confidence. Penny has incredible hearing and truly does not care that her eyes don’t work. She navigates life beautifully and with grace.

🏡 Life in Foster Care
In her current foster home, Penny prefers male or low-energy dogs and does not care for female dogs. She does wonderfully with a male Frenchie and other calm companions. Penny is the definition of laid back—she loves:

Big, comfy beds

Quiet days at home

Car rides

Walks

Toys and cuddles

She’ll occasionally get the zoomies for about three glorious minutes… and then it’s right back to bed. 😄

🧡 Ideal Home

Limited stairs

Preferably no female dogs

Experience with or openness to a special-needs dog is a plus

Compatibility with small children and cats is currently unknown

🩺 Medical
Penny is fully vetted, spayed, has had gastropexy surgery, and has successfully completed heartworm treatment.

📍 Location & Transport
Penny is currently in the Houston, TX area, but she is available for out-of-state adoption. Transport can often be coordinated to get her as close as possible to her new home.

❤️ This is Dandy, who weighed in at 13.8 pounds at the vet. She’s 8 months old and a feisty but sweet girl. She will definitely take up for herself! Dandy didn’t do well with chickens, so she was turned into rescue. She is fully vetted and has been groomed and is ready to go! If you are interested please apply at www.houstoncockerspanielrescue.com/Application. If you have already submitted an application for another pup and are interested in Dandy, please let us know. We will keep her in rescue until the fireworks are over. ❤️

❤️ Our sweet boy Howie had a successful meet and greet last Wednesday and left last Friday for his new home in Colorado. He arrived on Sunday; his mom flew in and drove back. She said: “We made it home about 30 minutes ago. We took breaks. He was a great traveler and slept well at night. He loves the bones you told me to buy. He has sniffed out everything in his new home!” Howie’s mom adopted our Blaze in 2015, who became known as Gunni; sadly, Gunni passed away earlier this year after a good long life. Howie will go walking, hiking, and camping with his mom and her human friends, all who have their own furry babies. Adventures have already begun! Congratulations to our Howie and his mom Cathy! Howie is our second pup in three years to make his forever home in Colorado. ❤️

❤️ This is our Howie, sometimes called Howard. Howie was seemingly abandoned in a residential neighborhood as no one recognized him. It was a 108 degree heat index factor when he was picked up by a Good Samaritan in the neighborhood looking like a matted mess. The Good Samaritan held him for several days, posted him, and checked him for a chip - he had none. Being so miserable in the hot weather with all that hair, he was shaved down, which was inevitable, and we took him in. He had all his vaccinations and rabies shot, heart worm and f***l tests, and has since been neutered. Howie is a little scared of the dark, especially if the tree branches are blowing, but overall he’s a good boy who is a typical two year old with beautiful greenish eyes who needs some structure and training. He likes to play with other dogs and is very sweet. Next Wednesday Howie has a meet and greet, so we will let you know if that’s successful. Glad we could help you, Howie! Many thanks to his Good Samaritan who got Howie out of the oppressive heat and took great care of him until we could get him in! ❤️

❤️ Puppy Sugar left this morning for her forever home in South Padre Island! Mom and Dad and sister Ruby spent the night in Houston and are on their way back this morning. We’re betting that Sugar will see some sea turtles once she’s there and settled! She had lots of sugar kisses for her new parents and sister. We hope you have lots of fun in your new home, sweet girl! ❤️ 😘

❤️ Puppy Sugar! Sugar had her booster shots on April 25, and weighed in at 14.4 pounds! She was bathed and groomed before her spay, which was on May 9. Since then she has been recuperating with no complications and preparing to go to her forever home on Saturday, May 17. Sugar is full of energy and no doubt will keep her parents and sister Ruby on their toes, but she’s also a very sweet and affectionate girl. Congratulations to our lump of Sugar. ❤️

❤️ Puppy Update! Benny had his booster shots and rabies vaccination at 4 months on April 21. He weighed 10.6 pounds! Benny then stopped by our groomer for a little bath and trim, where he was a very good boy. Recently, he went on to his foster to adopt home! We will see Benny around the end of June for his neuter when he’s 6 months old, and then his adoption will be finalized. Benny’s parents say they’ve really enjoyed their little nugget, as have his human sister and canine older brother. Congratulations to this sweet little boy pup and his family! ❤️

❤️ Puppy alert #2 ❤️ This is our Sugar, who is 8-9 months old. Sugar came to us because mom has a new baby and other children in the house and a puppy was just too much to handle. Sugar is as sweet as can be and recently had her second set of vaccinations and her rabies shot. She will get her boosters around May 1, then will be groomed and spayed. Sugar came to us with some tummy issues, but with a gastrointestinal food, probiotics and medication she has markedly improved. Sugar is crate trained and semi-potty trained but she’s working on that every day. She, too, will need obedience training so she doesn’t turn into an unruly adult. Sugar is already responding to correction and is friendly with all dogs. She, like Benny, has a lot of confidence for her age, loves to run and play, and will be fine with a little work in due time. Sugar will be ready for her forever home in about 3 weeks. An application for Sugar or any other dog on our site can be accessed at www.houstoncockerspanielrescue.com/Application

❤️ Puppy 🐶 alert! This little guy named Benny came to rescue at 13 weeks and weighing 7.6 pounds because he nipped a 3 year old on the face. He’s been growing and playing ever since and already knows to go potty in the grass. Never once has he wet in his crate at night, which is truly amazing. Benny loves to play chase and with his toys. He’s super confident for his age and just the smartest little puppy. He already went to the vet for his second set of shots and gets his boosters and rabies shot on April 21. Benny will then be ready to go out on a foster to adopt under our puppy contract until he’s ready for neutering, when he will see our vet for his procedure at 6 months and his adoption finalized. He will definitely need obedience training as all puppies do, to prevent him turning into an unruly adult. That must be kept in mind when adopting a puppy. Benny is smart, cuddly, playful, and very sweet. He’s ready in a week to go to his forever home! Applications for any dog on our site can be accessed at www.houstoncockerspanielrescue.com/Application

❤️ Teddy! Teddy was first posted quite a while back when he had surgery on his neck at Blue Pearl for a salivary gland duct issue. His report came back clean and nothing has reappeared to date. Teddy had a trust issue at first so we didn’t adopt him out because we didn’t want him to bite from fear because of that lack of trust. Slowly over time he has become best friends with his foster, his veterinarian and vet technicians, and his groomer. Teddy will still require a dog savvy adopter who knows how to handle pups like him. He loves sitting on his caregivers lap and is very protective of his home. He’s a little guy who acts like a big dog if he hears a strange noise, so he’d make a great alarm system! Recently, he had surgery to remove a small growth on his back and two tiny growths on his eyelid that were irritating him. He did just fine! Teddy loves his toys but even though he’s 5, he still has to get those squeakers out followed by the fluff. He also loves car rides and looking at all the sites. Teddy is a very cooperative little guy who needs a firm handler who he trusts and looks up to for direction. He’s a chocolate cocker with maybe a little poodle in there since he doesn’t shed much if at all. He can get along with other dogs in an open space that he knows, but could become confrontational if toys are involved. Teddy is both crate and house trained and was found as a stray with no chip and was never claimed. Over time he has become a favorite of people he’s familiar with. He has come a long way! His foster knew when he had overcome his fear because he jumped in her lap and looked her straight in the eyes with his adoring eyes. Time, patience and love heal all wounds and hopefully in a new home this will continue. He’d be best as an only dog, but perhaps could do well with older children and even another dog who didn’t like toys if an introduction was very slow. He’s a cute and compact small guy with a huge personality! When we see where dogs have come from and how they eventually blossom in foster care, it’s a true testament of what rescue is all about. ❤️
