96.9 The Monkey WMKI

Ten years ago a senseless murder took the life of my friend and radio colleague Matt Luecking. His killers are in prison, but he is still missed.
Later this month, his brother Eric is putting together a bit of a fundraising concert for all the charities that was important to Matt.
If you have October 24 open and want to find yourself in Terre Haute, this is an Indiana Nocturne and 96.9 The Monkey recommended concert. Eliot Sloan of Blessed Union Of Souls.

Hi all. It’s John Rabold of Crossroads of Americana TM heard Sundays at 9pm on The Monkey. I’m doing the video promo a little early for Sunday’s show because I think it will be extra special for Terre Haute listeners.

🐒 THE MONKEY IS BACK! 🐒

After a brief adventure into the mysterious world of “Why the hell isn't the radio working?”… we’re officially BACK ON THE AIR! 📻🙌

You can once again crank up 96.9 FM and get your daily dose of Everything Alternative — because apparently silence is not a format. 😂

And if you’re not near a radio, no problem! You can also listen on your Amazon Alexa Smart Speaker. Just say:

🗣️ “Alexa, play 96-9 The Monkey!”

And BOOM… 🐒🎶 The Monkey is back in your house.

Thanks for hanging with us while we got everything sorted out. Now turn it up, Terre Haute!

We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of the iconic, legendary, and truly irreplaceable Tim Curry at the age of 80. 🎭💔
Few performers in history brought as much magnetic charm, wild energy, and sheer theatrical genius to the screen as Tim Curry. From his unforgettable breakout turn as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show to terrifying a generation as Pennywise in IT, stealing every scene as Wadsworth in Clue, and bringing the Lord of Darkness to life in Legend, he was a once-in-a-generation talent.
Beyond live action, his unmatched voice anchored countless classic cartoons, video games, and audiobooks over a career that spanned more than five decades.
Pop culture lost a giant today, but the joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments he gave us will live on forever.
What’s your favorite Tim Curry role or line? Drop your memories below and let’s celebrate a true master of his craft. 🖤🍿👇
