It’s always been a fight for working people.

On July 12, 1917, more than 1,000 men were rounded up in Bisbee, Arizona, loaded onto boxcars, and abandoned in the New Mexico desert.

Their offense? Joining a Union and making demands of Mining Companies.

A utility truck crushed beneath a haul truck's front axle — one of the most preventable yet devastating incidents in mining. Light vehicle and heavy equipment interactions account for a significant proportion of fatalities in open-pit mining worldwide. Proximity detection systems, exclusion zones, and strict traffic management plans exist because of exactly this. No schedule is worth a life

Silver City, NM. If you haven’t seen this Hollywood movie from the 1950’s which was blacklisted, watch it and see how women led this fight. 👊🏼

When the mining company thought it had won, the women stepped onto the picket line. ✊

In 1951, Mexican American zinc miners in Grant County, New Mexico went on strike against the Empire Zinc Company over unequal pay and dangerous conditions. When a court order barred the miners themselves from picketing, their wives, sisters, and daughters took their place and held the line for months in the face of arrests and threats.

Their courage inspired a landmark film about the struggle. It was one of the first times Mexican American women stood at the very front of the fight for fairness, showing that la lucha belonged to the whole family and not just the men.
