Today I was invited to San Fernando, California Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3834 to attend their annual "Day of Service".

This is the 5th annual VFW Day of Service which is a full month of veteran-led community service initiatives. Veterans, VFW Posts, and Auxiliaries nation wide organize and host projects such as neighborhood cleanups, food drives, and veteran home repairs.

Thank you Past Post Commander Raul Barragan for the invitation for a first hand view of membership cleaning "Cindy Montanez Natural Park". What a great achievement serving and giving back to their community.

Today I'm here in Lansing, Michigan representing the Department of California VFW.

While staying here at the Marriott in Lansing I noticed right across the street a Marine Corps Officer Recruitment office.

I kicked the door in and met a fantastic Marine, Gunnery Sergeant Turos.

He works here assisting the mission of finding the future men & women with the desire to become part of leadership of the world's finest fighting force, the United States Marine Corps!

He is Semper Fidelis.

Made it to Lansing, Michigan to my Junior Vice Commander National Home visit.

We had lunch and I broke away for a little sightseeing walk at Michigan State University a couple of blocks away.

What a beautiful campus!
