Last evening Department Commander Paula Jansen, District 7 Commander Tom Fiala, and I attended the 25th Anniversary of 9/11at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California.

This annual event was well attended, had a flyover by Ventura County Fire Department, performance by Concordia Choir & Wind Orchestra, and guest speakers New Year City Police Department Officer Marc Manfro and Double Amputee US Army Sergeant Neil Duncan.

Most noteworthy, we were honored to meet the Former Director of Presidential Advance for President George W. Bush, Mr. Brian Montgomery.

Mr. Montgomery was the keynote speaker of this event and gave a very intriguing description of the day of and following days of President Bush's reactions, actions, and travels to the crash sites of the terrorists attacks of 9/11.

Every year I stand the watch at the Corona, California Civic Center on flags representing all 2977 people who lost their lives in the 9-11 terrorist attack at World Trade Center New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

This year, I was honored to be accompanied by Department Commander Paula Jansen and Junior Vice Commander Wendy Calderon.

Considering the circumstances of this "Watch" we enjoyed our time together serving the community and the City of Corona, California.

Today I remember the 13 Service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice at "Abby Gate" in Kabul Airport Afghanistan.

I am very fortunate that through my journey in this great organization I was blessed to meet the parents of Corporal Hunter Lopez who live in California, District 3.

I will treasure the gift that his mother gave me and I seldom wear it but it sits on my bed stand to remind me why I do what I do!

God bless the families of these Warriors.
