Temecula Valley skills class this afternoon: our whole group was there and did great! (We need more raisers - tell your friends!) Zuko, Maverick, and Zelda worked on paw pads for a bit, then walked through the park with different handlers. After that, they worked on the "wait" cue before getting a dish of kibble - they all did so well! For the last few minutes of class, the puppies settled at their handlers' side while we talked about upcoming events. Great job, puppies and raisers!

With a group our size (3 puppies) it was all paws on deck to work a 6-hour Earth Day festival! We talked to lots of great people, explaining about the need for puppy raisers so GDA|TLC can provide task-trained service dogs for people with visual impairment, veterans with PTSD or mobility issues, children with autism, or facilities. Great job, Zuko. Maverick, Zelda and raisers! 💜💙❤️

The Temecula Valley group had skills class today, which Zelda was able to attend for the first time! Zuko and Zelda worked on dog distractions and impulse control by doing position changes on their paw pads and walking on the paths at beautiful Harveston Lake.

We've been working hard with Team Zelda this past week so that she can start getting out and experiencing the world. One evening, we just worked on getting in and out of the family vehicle. She was rewarded for her hard work by having a short playdate with fellow puppy-in-training Zuko. Yesterday, we worked on going to church, from how to walk up to the building, to how to handle greeting people, and how to sit quietly in service. It was nice for her raiser to be able to attend service for the first time in over three months! Zuko got some great experience at a different church with vinyl-covered stairs that he hadn't experienced before too.

The experiences were great confidence-builders for Zelda and her raiser - good job Team Zelda!

The Temecula Valley group visited The Springs Rehab Center today, spreading some Valentine's love to the residents, families, and staff! We started with some training exercises outside with puppies Zuko and Maverick and their raisers; plus two applicants and a raiser whose puppy isn't old enough for meetings yet. We proceeded inside and visited with patients and staff in the dining room for a while, then walked the hallway and went into individual rooms as requested. When we tried to leave, there were yet more people who wanted to visit with the puppies - we were quite PUPular! 😍
