These specially trained little horses and their trainer handlers can be found brightening the day at VA hospitals, rehab and longterm care centers, Wounded Warriors Special Activities, Military Family Events and so much more. 🇺🇸🐴♥️

🐴 What is an EAT miniature therapy horse team?

A trained miniature horse + trained human handler/team that visits people in settings such as:

* 🏥 Hospitals and children’s hospitals
* 🧑‍🦽 Rehabilitation facilities
* 👵 Senior living and nursing facilities
* 🎖️ Veterans’ hospitals
* 🏫 Schools
* 🚒 First responders and crisis situations
* ❤️ People experiencing trauma, grief, anxiety, or stress

At Hugs & Hooves Therapy, our EAT (Equine Assisted Therapy) visits and activities throughout the years with Military Active Duty and US Veterans is especially important and rewarding.

Often we invite additional therapy teams; Daniela and Lulu, Ann and Darla, Jamie and KoKo, Lord Byron and Beth; to help cover the larger family-friendly holiday and special events.

We appreciate our US Veterans, and their families, for the sacrifices they make for our freedom. As Veterans Day approaches on November 11th, our EAT teams sincerely wish to thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

Building that bond of trust.
Notice Cowboy’s head position, body language, licking and chewing, all signs of an engaged, relaxed horse doing something he enjoys.

The electric stander wheelchair raises her from sitting into a standing position, in addition to providing her better posture support and comfort.

Emery met a lot of people today and enjoyed telling them about Cowboy. She’s working on improved communication skills, fine motor skills, reading equine cues and behavior, as well as having patience during the training process.

Everyone loves a visit from Cowboy!

The lovely residents and staff at Redwood Terrace enjoyed having him and hearing his rescue story, as well as learning about how we train for Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) work.

The social interaction of our visit is invaluable, especially for seniors. Today people were sharing stories about their own experiences with horses, one lady’s father was a jockey in Ireland. Another man said this grandchildren rode horses frequently, while others grew up on farms and ranches.

Our visits always lead to story telling, sharing and MILES OF SMILES! ☀️🦄🌈💜
