The Telluride Mushroom Festival explores all aspects of the fungal world, from gourmet wild edibles to medicinal fungi, from toxins to entheogens. Past speakers have included Dr. Andrew Weil, Paul Stamets, Terence McKenna, Kathleen Harrison, Jonathan Ott, Wade Davis, Mazatec elder Julieta Casimiro, Thomas Szasz, David Arora, Joan Halifax, Federal Judge John Kane, Sheriff Bill Masters, Ethan Nadelm

ann, Sasha and Ann Shulgin, Doug Peacock, Ralph Abraham, Dolores LaChapelle, Christian Ratsch, Kary Mullis, Laura Huxley, Taylor Lockwood, Rick Doblin, Lynn Margulis, Ralph Metzner and more. The four-day event consists of slide presentations, lectures, forays, performances (dance, poetry, music), discussion groups, panels, a hands-on growing workshop, parade, movies, free identification fair, cook&taste, and numerous local restaurants offering gourmet wild mushroom specials. The San Juan Mountains surrounding Telluride are famous for their bounty of fungal species, with edible chanterelles and boletes often fruiting in profusion during the good years, thanks to summer monsoon rains.

If you were wondering what those giant green costumes were! They were a tiny ascomycetes, Microglossum viride, commonly known as the Green Earth Tongue 💚

The costumes get better every year! Everyone is so talented and creative, you guys are what brings the parade to life. ❤️✨We can’t wait to see what next years competition brings, looks like Hamiltons Mushrooms going to have to bring the heat! 😏

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Telluride Mushroom Festival! 🍄
As the tents come down and we leave the box canyon, our hearts are incredibly full. An event of this scale takes a village, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who brought it to life. 🙌🏼
To our phenomenal volunteers, dedicated staff, and brilliant contributors: thank you. You are the mycelium of this festival, working tirelessly behind the scenes to connect every piece and keep our community thriving. ❤️

To our wildly talented parade makers,you brought pure magic, color, and joy to Main Street this weekend. Your creativity blew us away and you proved once again why this community is so special. You are all truly awesome.❤️

As the music starts to echo down Main Street and the energy of the parade begins to rise, let us pause and reflect on everything the past three days have given us.✨🍄

This festival is so much more than just a gathering; it feels like coming home to a family connected by the unseen threads of the earth. We’ve spent the last three days completely immersed in the magic of Telluride learning side-by-side in crowded workshops, listening intently to keynotes that challenged how we see the world, and feeling an overwhelming amount of pure community love.

Even the mountain rain felt like a blessing, washing away the noise of everyday life and bringing the forest floors to life just for us.Every conversation at the ID tent, every shared basket on the trails, and every drop of rain has led to this exact moment. Now, as the costumes come out and the parade officially begins, our hearts are completely full.

Let’s march, let’s dance, and let’s celebrate the beautiful kingdom that brought us all together. Happy Day 4, family. Next stop: Puff Ball! 🌧️❤️🎭
