This morning, I moved Sawfish Racing Cars into storage for another year. I want to thank the Pushers, Drivers, and cheering from Blue Ridge Ski Club, Lost Cause Ski Racing, and Whitetail Golf Clubs Leftovers who assisted in my hobby of building and racing Gravity cars.
As we closed out the 9th Nazareth Soapbox Derby, we added a second-place finish from the “Dean Van Lines Special” to our trophy case, joining 6 first-place finishes and 3 one-two finishes.
When the race series returned after a 10-year hiatus, I walked through the pits with my other driver. I stated that one of us would finish first, and the other second. After our one-two finishes, I answered the complaints by stating, "They are racing with the same pieces of garbage they had 10 years ago."
My designs are simple, and pointing out that all the wheels should be facing the same direction should have been common sense. I have always helped other builders and even posted the "Gulf Oil Special" budget build on the Nazareth Soapbox page. So, I partially blame myself for the close level of competition we witnessed yesterday.
I have ideas for next year.
