Today was Bikes and Backpacks day at Cornerstone Kids.

Bikes from the Heart gave away bikes to our students and everyone went home today with a backpack and school supplies.

Fr. Ed even gave us and our backpacks special blessings as we move into the school year.

Thank you to our Board of Directors, Bikes from the Heart and Fr. Ed for making today so special.

We had the best field trip we’ve ever had today thanks to our friends with the Tampa Tarpons/Yankees! Our kids were treated to a play date at Steinbrenner Field with Tampa Tarpons players and staff.

The rain could not dampen our day! We had lunch, Kona ice, and had the opportunity to play the afternoon away in the batting cages, including a very rousing game of wiffle ball! I’m not sure who had more fun, our kids or the players.

Thank you so much to the Tarpons/Yankees staff for their hospitality today. We can’t wait to see you in the fall in the church field for another round of wiffle ball!

We are starting our 4th week of the Cornerstone Kids inc Summer Program. It has been a busy summer so far and we are only half way through. Here is an update on all the fun things we have been up to.

*We had a visit from Jamila with What It Was Walking Tour. She taught us about 3 prominent individuals in the Tampa area. We had a scavenger hunt and enjoyed learning about Black History in
Tampa.

*We had our annual VBS week and kids learned new songs and danced their hearts out all week. We had wonderful art projects to work on everyday.

*We celebrated the 4th of July with a Red, White, and Blue glow dance party and made stuffed Eagles to celebrate America's 250th Birthday.

On top of all the fun we have been working hard on our sight words and multiplications tables, as well as brushing up on our Spanish skills.

We are looking forward to what the rest of the summer brings.

Cornerstone Kids celebrated the end of the school year yesterday with a talent show.
The kids performed songs, dances, cheers, and poetry for their friends and we ended the day with ice cream on the playground!

Thank you to our friends from the Tampa Tarpons for coming to hang out and play baseball with us this week. It was the last week of school, testing is over and no homework to worry about. The kids had a fantastic afternoon. We can't wait to catch a Tarpons game this summer and cheer our friends on from the stands!
