It’s a big day for little Hansgrohe aka Inigo Meowtoya. He may or may not come home without an eye. But he will definitely come home neutered!

Hansgrohe and his siblings came to us with eye infections. While everyone else’s eyes healed, Hansgrohe’s never showed signs of improvement. In fact, we’re not even sure he has an eye! But today is the day we find out! He was dropped off for his neuter and eye surgery this morning. If his eye is viable, the surgeon will save it. If it’s not, then eye removal it will be! Either way, this little guy is getting the chance at a comfortable, healthy life thanks to all of you and your support!

It’s somebody special’s birthday!! 🎉 Happy 11th Birthday to our sweet, wobbly “furever foster,” Harriet!! 💜

Why do we celebrate her birthday every year? Because she’s a reminder to our longtime volunteers and supporters—and a perfect example for our newer ones—of the importance of giving a voice to the voiceless, advocating for the underdogs, and never giving up, even when the odds are against us.

Every birthday for Harriet is not just a celebration of her life, but a celebration of the difference animal rescue can make. Sure, Harriet is just one cat, but she represents all of the cats and dogs we’ve fought to save since the inception of Rebels Rescue over 12 years ago.

Harriet was born without a home. She was abandoned by her mom at two weeks old. She developed a wobble. Her prognosis was grim. But none of that made her life any less worth saving.

We were told she wouldn’t live to see a year old. Euthanasia was recommended by multiple vets as the “kind” thing to do BEFORE she started suffering. We decided we weren’t going to give up on Harriet until Harriet gave up on herself.

She never did.

We eventually found a vet who ruled out what everyone else had suspected. She was able to receive a proper diagnosis and the supportive care she needed to live a long, happy life.

Were her medical bills significantly higher than those of the average pet in our foster program?! Absolutely! But this is why we fundraise. Harriet is a testament to the importance and power of community support.

Sure, she still wobbles. But she has gotten to live 11 full, happy years because she was given the second chance every homeless, stray, and abandoned animal deserves.

Cheers to sweet Harriet on her special day—and to all of you who help make days like today possible! 💜

Thank you for all of the support and congratulations to Jody Edwards for winning our Dog Days of Summer 50/50 Raffle!! We successfully raised a total of $1,929--$964.5 for our foster animals and another $964.5 for our winner, Jody!!

It is truly the end of an era! As many already know, Southern Brewing & Winery will close its doors for the final time next week as Kelly & Brian head into retirement. Southern has been the home of our monthly Cats, Crystals and Crafts event for sooo many years. Their generosity, kindness and support of our rescue is beyond measurable and will forever remain in our hearts and in our story. And as if they haven't already provided so much love to our rescue, Southern is donating all proceeds from their commemorative glasses to Rebels Rescue!! 💜💜💜

Glasses are $10 each and will directly provide for the vital supplies and medical care our foster pets need! This is the perfect way to celebrate the end of an era while supporting a great cause!

We will be hosting our final Sunday event this Sunday, August 9th in advance of their closing!! We invite everyone to come out and support Southern, grab a glass, and help us celebrate!
