RESCUE, FOSTER & ADOPTION
We partner with shelters and the community to save animals in need.

Rebels Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)3 animal rescue dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets in Hillsborough County and the Greater Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to end unnecessary euthanasia by pulling the highest risk pets from the county's high-kill shelter and placing them in our foster homes where they will receive the love, attention and care they deserve while they await adoption. All pets receive appropriate vet care in addition to being spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to becoming available for adoption. We host bi-weekly adoption events at Pet Supermarket in South Tampa and a monthly Cats, Crystals & Crafts event the 3rd Sunday of every month at Southern Brewing in Seminole Heights. Information on events, donations, fostering, volunteering and adopting--including a list of our available pets--can be found on our website at https://www.rebelsrescue.com/. We rely solely on donations from the public to continue our mission of saving the lives of at-risk pets. Links to our donation page and current wishlists can all be found via our Linktree at https://linktr.ee/rebelsrescue

Oliver enjoyed a visit from one of our volunteers today and eagerly showed off his sweet, charming and playful personality. Oliver and Oreanna (who was feeling too much like a diva for photos) are available to meet and adopt from our in-store kiosk at Pet Supermarket - South Tampa during regular store hours. They would love to find their forever families before they go back to their foster for cage break in a couple days! 🙏

As always, all available rescued pets can be found on our website at https://www.rebelsrescue.com/animals/browse?Status=Available

It’s a big day for little Hansgrohe aka Inigo Meowtoya. He may or may not come home without an eye. But he will definitely come home neutered!

Hansgrohe and his siblings came to us with eye infections. While everyone else’s eyes healed, Hansgrohe’s never showed signs of improvement. In fact, we’re not even sure he has an eye! But today is the day we find out! He was dropped off for his neuter and eye surgery this morning. If his eye is viable, the surgeon will save it. If it’s not, then eye removal it will be! Either way, this little guy is getting the chance at a comfortable, healthy life thanks to all of you and your support!

Sending lots of kitty kisses and positive vibes to Hansgrohe on his big surgery day! ❤

It’s somebody special’s birthday!! 🎉 Happy 11th Birthday to our sweet, wobbly “furever foster,” Harriet!! 💜

Why do we celebrate her birthday every year? Because she’s a reminder to our longtime volunteers and supporters—and a perfect example for our newer ones—of the importance of giving a voice to the voiceless, advocating for the underdogs, and never giving up, even when the odds are against us.

Every birthday for Harriet is not just a celebration of her life, but a celebration of the difference animal rescue can make. Sure, Harriet is just one cat, but she represents all of the cats and dogs we’ve fought to save since the inception of Rebels Rescue over 12 years ago.

Harriet was born without a home. She was abandoned by her mom at two weeks old. She developed a wobble. Her prognosis was grim. But none of that made her life any less worth saving.

We were told she wouldn’t live to see a year old. Euthanasia was recommended by multiple vets as the “kind” thing to do BEFORE she started suffering. We decided we weren’t going to give up on Harriet until Harriet gave up on herself.

She never did.

We eventually found a vet who ruled out what everyone else had suspected. She was able to receive a proper diagnosis and the supportive care she needed to live a long, happy life.

Were her medical bills significantly higher than those of the average pet in our foster program?! Absolutely! But this is why we fundraise. Harriet is a testament to the importance and power of community support.

Sure, she still wobbles. But she has gotten to live 11 full, happy years because she was given the second chance every homeless, stray, and abandoned animal deserves.

Cheers to sweet Harriet on her special day—and to all of you who help make days like today possible! 💜

Interested in making Harriet's day even more special?! Consider a donation in her honor to help other cats and dogs like Harriet get the second chance they deserve!
