Fringe Focus! Let's look a little closer at The Trouble with Cutting My Hair! Ada answered some questions for us in a recent interview!
How long have you been a performer?
I didn’t start my artistic journey until I left my full-time faculty position at the university. My solo performances or my artistic work in general bridge academia, storytelling/performance, and advocacy.
Why should patrons choose your show?
As much as this is a personal story, this is also a universal story about love. All of us want to love and to be loved. This piece really is about that fundamental human condition: the desire to love and to be loved no matter who we are. This performance is about a love story, not a typical one portrayed in mainstream media. It is a love story transgressing across borders in every form.
Why Fringe?
I am a traveler in my heart. I love being stranger among strangers. I find comfort in that. I have never been to Tampa even though I have been to other parts of Florida. I am excited to explore Tampa!
