Super Short Game Review: Azul

I saw folks playing Azul at our party, great game! It was the 2018 Spiel des Jahres winner and has become a classic. It's one of our go-to games for introducing new players to the hobby.

The premise is simple: draft colorful tiles and use them to decorate the walls of a royal palace. But you're competing for tiles. Every tile you take affects what's left for everyone else, so you're constantly reading the table and thinking a few moves ahead. Gameplay is easy, but honestly, scoring still confuses me.

What we love about it for game night:
- Easy to teach in a few minutes, but has real strategic depth as you improve
- 2-4 players, ages 8+, roughly 30-45 minutes
- The tiles themselves are genuinely satisfying to handle
- A great "gateway" game for newer players

If you haven't played it with us yet, keep an eye out for it at an upcoming game night!

We had 41 players (including 9 first-timers) at our two-year anniversary party! Thank you everyone for coming out and supporting us and our mission. It was wonderful seeing so many people meeting and connecting over games. Our next event is on Sunday, Oct 4, from 9 to noonish at Foxtail Coffee Co. & Kelly's Ice Cream - Odessa!
