We are working to end homelessness & lonliness in Tampa through our 3 programs - PETRA, WOVEN and CARE. Just Initiative is a Community Development Nonprofit Organization focused on improving the quality of life in marginalized communities in Tampa.

At the Boutique, people shop for free for clothes and basic needs, people get assistance with transportation and obtaining their identification.

The people that shop here are a mix of every type of person in Tampa - anyone who "wears clothes" is what we like to say.

Some do not have homes or any clothes outside of what is on their back, some are looking for something to wear to a funeral, or job interview, or just something new.

Some just want to come in and have a seat and a hot cup of coffee or a cold water and a snack and a conversation. To be seen and heard and known.

The Boutique is a beautiful place of connection for the community in East Tampa.

Currently our hours are W, Th, F 11am-2pm. If you want to shop or have something to share please come by!

If you are traveling a distance please text us first to make sure there hasn't been a shift in the schedule due to our small staff - 813-803-0220.

Stay tuned, we are looking to expand the boutique services to include a small food pantry as well.

Last week we celebrated and honored Alemka who has been an important part of the Just Initiative family for 2.5 years. Through her compassion, consistency, and care, she assisted many individuals and families to exit the crisis of homelessness, become stable and increase their income.

Almeka has a special way of making people feel seen, supported, and reminded that they matter, and she used that gift with every person in Just Housing.

While we will miss her, we are excited for her next chapter. And we remain deeply grateful for her time on the Just team ❤️

A few months ago we started a new partnership with specifically for our middle schoolers.
We are excited to be able to provide our middle schoolers with high quality consistent content to help them navigate through one of the most challenging times in life when your deciding what kind of person you will be.

This is an amazing group of kids. Who carry a lot - talent, intelligence and life experience. Please join us in praying for them to choose what is best and continue to grow into their identity in a way that brings freedom and abundant life!

Yesterday we had the honor to celebrate this amazing woman.

Over the last 2 and 1/2 years she has lead and grown the Zone, our kids program. She is a servant leader of servant leaders. She radiants the love and peace of Christ while being willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Always seeing what needs to get done and making a way to do it gracefully while stretching herself to grow in new ways.

She has been core to Just Initiative, carrying the spirit of Acting Justly, Loving Mercy and Walking Humbly so beautifully.

And now it's time for her to prioritize some things that are requiring her to step away from this role. We honor your decision Mateanie. We honor you. We thank you for the mark you have left on Just Initiative and all of our hearts.

Recently our Family Support services team met to talk about launching some additional services.

What an inspiring team of women with so much passion and resolve!

On this last day of women's history month we celebrate women. Especially the women in the Just Initiative community who are learning, growing, teaching, sharing, parenting, and doing our part to leave a little mark for good in history. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us and stay aware that we will be those shoulders for those coming up next!

Update: you all are awesome! All the blankets we need for now have been purchased. If you would like to drop off warm blankets at the boutique for those inside without adequate heat, that would be awesome.

Urgent need for emergency blankets for our neighbors that are not in shelter. We need these today to distribute ASAP.

This cold snap is continuing for a while - where it is forcasted to be below 50 (and frequently in the 30s) for 12 out of the next 14 nights.
