A signed purchase agreement marks progress, but it also raises the next set of succession questions.

Leadership gaps. Family dynamics. Ownership structure. Continuity risk. These issues often surface after closing, and advisors who understand them are better equipped to guide clients through what comes next.

On July 16, BTC Tampa is hosting a live webinar called “Beyond the Transaction: The Succession Issues That Shape Every Business Transition.” If you work with business owners, this is the conversation to be in on.

Most advisors help clients close the deal. Fewer help them survive what comes after.

On July 16, the Business Transition Council of Tampa is hosting a live webinar called “Beyond the Transaction: The Succession Issues That Shape Every Business Transition,” and it was built for advisors who want to understand both sides of the equation.

Join Michael C. Valdez, Co-Founder of BTC Tampa, Jeff Faulkner, Co-Founder of ISPA® and President of The Rawls Group, and Kelly Maheu, JD, CEO of ISPA®, for a practical conversation on what advisors need to know before, during, and after the transaction.

We’re excited to share that the International Succession Planning Association (ISPA) and the Business Transition Council (BTC) have announced a strategic partnership focused on strengthening how advisors support business owners through succession and transition planning.

This partnership brings together two organizations committed to helping advisors approach these conversations in a more structured, integrated, and practical way — across leadership continuity, ownership transition, financial readiness, and family dynamics.

Together, ISPA and BTC will collaborate on education, content, events, and advisor-focused programming designed to move succession planning from conversation to ex*****on.

We look forward to the impact this collaboration will have on advisors and the business owners they serve.

Huge thank you to Angela Devlin for a clear, grounded, and genuinely useful talk on goal setting, systems, and replacing yourself in the business.

What stood out most was the clarity she brought to a topic that’s often discussed in theory but rarely broken down in a practical way.

The slides outlining the journey from solopreneur to solo+, employer, and ultimately CEO were especially insightful. They clearly show what actually needs to change at each stage of growth, why strategies that work at lower revenue levels often break as a business grows, and how intentional systems—not more hustle—are what unlock the next level.

Equally valuable was the framework around systems, scale, and succession. Starting with building a solid operational foundation through documented, repeatable processes, then identifying the pieces that support scale like knowledge transfer, delegation, and additional revenue streams, and finally outlining what’s required to exit well or successfully pass the reins to someone else.

It was a strong reminder that growth isn’t about doing more. It’s about designing a business that can operate without you.

Well done, Angela. This was one of those sessions that brings real structure and direction to how business owners should be thinking about the path from entrepreneur to CEO.
