AmeriCorps Members Serve Here

This National Volunteer Week, we recognize the incredible impact AmeriCorps members whose services make a direct impact in the lives of refugees, immigrants, and survivors of human trafficking across the country. Their service is essential.

But right now, that service is in jeopardy.

Severe cuts to AmeriCorps staff threaten to dismantle the infrastructure that supports national service, jeopardizing critical programs and the communities that rely of them.

Take action: Contact your elected representatives and urge them to protect AmeriCorps and the future of national service.

As a former AmeriCorps member shared about their service to the IRC in Atlanta: "You don't do it for the money, you do it for the American people."

Jamie Rosseland is a consultant in the field of anti-trafficking work with expertise in the coordination of care and program development for victims and survivors of s*xual exploitation, implementation of trauma-competent and survivor-centered digital marketing strategies, and has been active in local government and statewide level policy advocacy. Through sharing her lived experiences and unique perspective, Jamie is committed to change the cultural view of the s*x trade, address systems that drive demand, and confront inequalities within the movement.

Jessica Barriel is a Detective with the Miami-Dade Police Department, currently assigned to the Organized Crimes Bureau, Human Trafficking Squad (HT). She has 16 years of law enforcement experience. She has been a Detective for the HT Squad for seven years. During her tenure in the HT Squad, she has investigated numerous complex investigations including; Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, Human Trafficking, Labor Trafficking, and Organized Prostitution. Detective Barriel was a recipient of the FDLE Florida missing Children’s Day award 2020, Task Force/Team of the Year.
