Halloween Safety Tips (Friday, October 31, 2025)
Please share. Everyone loves a good scare on Halloween, but not when it comes to the safety of those little trick-or-treaters. Fortunately, there are lots of easy things parents and kids can do to stay safe on the spookiest of holidays.

Top Tips for Halloween Safety

Carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or stickers on costumes and bags, and wear light colors to help kids see and be seen by drivers.
Join kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating.
Slow down and be alert! Kids are excited on Halloween and may dart into the street.
Turn on headlights early in the day to spot kids from further away.
Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks.
When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls.
Choose face paint over masks when possible. Masks can limit children's vision.

Thank you to everyone who showed up to our LOA Rally on Thursday. Although some things didn’t go as planned, we are very grateful for pushing through anyway and supporting our after school programs!

TODAY, we march to the capitol to advocate for the funding and protection of our afterschool programs. Join us at Cascades Park at 4pm to march with us. Don’t decrease afterschool funding, INCREASE IT!

Put on some walking shoes and join us as we march from Cascades Park to the capitol to advocate for increasing afterschool funding. We will also have a table at the trunk or treat event at the old capitol.

We will be marching to the capitol next Thursday (OCT 23rd) to celebrate and advocate for increasing afterschool funding. We will also be having a table at the Trunk or Treat event at the capitol. Be sure to March with us and stay to visit our Trunk or Treat table!

In Frenchtown, we will have a popup Good Neighbor Day table at the Lincoln Center’s Senior Day!! Please come visit us on Wednesday, October 1, 10:00am-12:00pm at the Lincoln Center (438 W. Brevard Street). We will have some giveaways and breakfast treats for you, and you are free to check out the other vendor tables at the event as well. This is a great opportunity to check out your neighborhood Service Center and gain valuable resources – and maybe meet a new neighbor or two! Hope to see you there to celebrate being a good neighbor!

I find it rewarding to spend time with our youth, particularly when they demonstrate proactive achievement of their goals. They successfully met their quarterly objectives and completed a civic engagement service day by delivering a goodie box to firestation #3 in recognition of our first responders and those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001.
